What can be the ultimate effect of reproductive isolation?

A population that is isolated will see a higher incidence of mutation, which can lead to new species, or very unique adaptations.





Study the animals of island populations, and you'll see the effects of isolation. Some of the most rare species come from islands, where the inbreeding forced a genetic shift due to a mutation, evolving an entirely new species.What can be the ultimate effect of reproductive isolation?
