A mating season specific to each species is a form of prezygotic isolation?

True

FalseA mating season specific to each species is a form of prezygotic isolation?
True - because the different species will be reproductively isolated in time.

What are some themes in the novel Jane Eyre besides love and isolation?

The differences in social class during the Victorian period could be a theme. (Look how Jane is treated by Mr. Rochester's guests; look at the differences between Jane and Grace Poole. The distinctions are vast.)

Being true to yourself could also be a theme. In other words, Jane Eyre yearns for love and a place to belong, but will never deny her own principles and convictions to get either.

Another thing that could be said is that it was a man's world. Jane struggles for independence and equality in an age where women had very few opportunities and men controlled everything. I'm not quite sure what you would call that theme...because it's not necessarily a feminist theme (though some elements are there, I don't believe Charlotte Bronte to have actually been a feminist but perhaps a forerunner?)... perhaps, the search for independence in a world of little opportunities and the relationship between men and women. What are some themes in the novel Jane Eyre besides love and isolation?
off the top of my head:

Women's role and education

suppression/expression

the supernatural

nature - how it affects people and how people relate to it. Includes the ';naturalness'; (or not) of many contemporary assumptions about family, social class and gender roles. What are some themes in the novel Jane Eyre besides love and isolation?
that book is in the move ';definitely maybe';!!! i just saw it last night and sorry i don't know i've never read it....

  • Which of the following often occurs as a result of reproductive isolation?

    A. Mutations

    B. Genetic drift

    C. Speciation

    D. Gene flowWhich of the following often occurs as a result of reproductive isolation?
    C. Speciation

That is the only choice that occurs *as a result* of reproductive isolation.

    (A) and (B) ... mutations and genetic drift ... both occur with or without reproductive isolation. And (D) ... gene flow ... occurs when the reproductive isolation is broken (the isolation is incomplete and there is some contact between the populations).Which of the following often occurs as a result of reproductive isolation?
I would say speciation. If two individuals can no longer mate (reproductive isolation) then they are, or will become over time, different species.

Usually that occurs through genetic drift though..
    Genetic Drift...if I remember correctly.

Imanage if the Untied States would have taken up a isolation attitude during World War One . ?

What will happen in history and why ?Imanage if the Untied States would have taken up a isolation attitude during World War One . ?
We would have averted the Federal Reserve Bank and the Income Tax system had the US not entered WWI.

WWI was about money and the old monarchial system. Capitalists wanted control of the money, which couldn't be done unless old monarchies were wiped out.Imanage if the Untied States would have taken up a isolation attitude during World War One . ?
We should have stayed out of WW I. Wilson got sucked into it. I believe he was lured in by a strong propaganda campaign by Great Britain. Most of the stories about supposed German atrocities were not true. The Ottoman Empire collapsed leading to the mess in the Middle East today, Russia went communist. Because of the Versailles Treaty, Germany was harshly punished allowing Hitler to come into power starting WW 2 which really was the second half of WW1. Following that war, Vietnam and Korea were divided causing power struggles between the strengthed United States and Soviet Union. The Flu Epidemic of 1919-1920 probably started in the United States and was spread worldwide by soldiers.
Hmmm... I doubt we will EVER take an isolationist attitude... just by providing money and supplies to a particular side is supporting not only the countries in the war but the war itself... As much as people like to deny this we were involved in WW2 well before Pearl Harbor just by giving money and supplies to the Allies... : /
The real damage was done at the Peace Conference at the end of the War. Wilson got snookered by the allies, and agreed to punish the Germans and force them to pay reparations, as long as the allies agreed to Wilson's ill-fated League of Nations. The result was the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany.

The US was Isolationist and the GOP wanted to remain that way. It took Wilson (D) much effort and political maneuvering to reject this posture and commit to the war
Ummm isn't that what it is called when you don't get involved until after there really is a threat or an actual attack like Pearl Harbor?
That's impossible to say. For all we know Europe could still be entrenched in a standoff that has lasted nearly 100 years...but who knows.
Now imagine if we alienated all of our allies like Bush has done.

You must of skipped over the whole Pearl Harbor thing because that was our policy.
We tried, it didn't work. Also, it's imagine and United.
    What????????????? Spell check please.

Man is a social animal. Sorry for the cliche, but that's what came first in my mind.

Regarding Isolation, you know, its just not the same with every one. It's different for different people. It also depends on what circumstances one is isolated. Either by force, or by will.

Again, has the person always been a loner? If not, it will have drastic effects on a highly sociable person to experience long term loneliness.

It also depends on what degree of isolation. Is a person locked in a room with no humanly contact? Is a person living/residing in a lonely hut on an abandoned area?

Psychological effects will range from acute depression to paranoia. You can read it up on the Internet. Also, the person could develop serious schizoid disorders, including illusions or schizophrenia.

Why did usa adopt the policy of isolation in the time after ww2?

i have this as a history essay question and need some information in this. i have looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything!!Why did usa adopt the policy of isolation in the time after ww2?
Are you sure you have the right War? The United States did not adopt an isolationist policy after WWII. The occupation of Europe and Japan, the Korean War, The Vietnam War, and the global projection of military power are not the actions of isolationism.

I believe you will have better luck writing about US isolationism after WW I. Following that ';War to end all wars'; the US did withdraw. The US even refused to Join the League of Nations despite the fact that President Wilson pushed hard to start that precursor to the United Nations. Why did usa adopt the policy of isolation in the time after ww2?
Maybe the answer is because they didn't?

  • Describe the different types of isolation and give a specific example of each isolation?

    1. Habitat Isolation. Two species may live in the same area but in different habitats. Living in these different habitats ( in water, living on land, or living in tree tops) effectively segregate these organisms from each other. Since there is little if any contact the possibility of successfully mating is drastically reduced.

    2. Temporal Isolation. Two species that breed at different times of the day, season, or year cannot mix their gametes. Since the breeding times are different there is no chance of reproductive contact.

    3. Behavioral Isolation. Species-specific signals and elaborate behavioral patterns are used by closely related species to insure contact with the proper mate. Birds, mammals, and insects have pre-mating rituals that attract the proper mate. These signals can be chemical or physical in nature. Other organisms pay little or no attention to these behaviors or scents.

    4. Mechanical Isolation. Anatomical incompatibility may prevent sperm transfer between two closely related species. The absence of certain appendages or their modification may inhibit a male from grasping and successfully fertilizing the female. Difference in floral structure may prevent pollen from reaching the stigma of the intended flower.

    5. Gametic Isolation. If for some reason foreign sperm is introduced into a female there are several preventative measures to insure that there is no union between the sperm and egg. Internal environmental conditions may cause the sperm to die. Gamete recognition sites on the sperm do not fit with the intended egg. If the two species differ in the type of fertilization (external and internal) there is no chance of the sperm ever contacting the egg.Describe the different types of isolation and give a specific example of each isolation?
Are you talking about evolution and speciation?

    The two main types are

    1. Geographic isolation: a population is separated by distance or some kind of barrier so the members of the population can't interbreed with the main population. For example, animals stranded on an island can't interbreed with populations from the mainland anymore - honeycreepers on the Hawaiian Islands or marine iguanas on the Galapagos.

    2. Reproductive isolation: members of a population do not interbreed with others for some reason. For instance, a few members of a frog population began to breed in the fall instead of in the spring. These frogs were reproductively isolated from the rest of the population because there was no further interbreeding. Any changes that accumulated in the two groups stayed within their group and was not shared with the other group. Over time they can become different species. Other ways reproductive isolation can happen are: breeding in different places (in the tree branches vs on the ground) and changes in reproductive anatomy so interbreeding is not physically possible. In all of these cases, the two populations can live in the very same place and still be isolated reproductively.Describe the different types of isolation and give a specific example of each isolation?

What was the reason for Japans isolation?

why did Japan want to be isolated from the rest of the world? even though they werent completely isolated, why didnt they want to trade with the outside world? What was the reason for Japans isolation?
The rulers of Japan, especially Ieyasu Tokugawa, recognized the dangers of European intervention. They learned fairly quickly what was happening to other cultures and realized the danger to Japan. And while the Japanese quite readily took in modern technology(in the form of muskets), once a stable government was formed, there was no need for such things. So the Tokugawa dynasty set a policy of isolationism in order to avoid social upheavals. This is the same reason that christianity was officially suppressed, and the religion was often used as a way of infiltrating a culture and gaining control over it.

With the Perry expedition, the Japanese rulers realized that they could no longer afford an isolationist policy if they wished to remain in power. So the upheavals they feared did come, but were still at least on their, the Japanese terms, rather than the terms of the encroaching Americans and Europeans. What was the reason for Japans isolation?
They were afraid that the foreign influences would dilute their culture and more importantly that the ruling class would loose its power.

Behavior isolation in humans or animals? What is an example of behavior isolation?

Lightning bugs (aka fireflies) have many species. Each species has a different flashing rate to keep themsleves from mating with the wrong species. What is an example of behavior isolation?
in humans i guess it would be like the tribes, if they behave in certain ways they aggregate to form groups, maybe thats how u make societies.

in animals there are many exapmles. many types of animals, like birds or insects behave differently and so dont come into conflict in their environment. Then i guess over time a new species arises

Yes. I have been in close contact with people with MRSA and I must say that it is not a good place to be.Shouldnt an elderly person who is infected with MRSA be in isolation or confinment rather than in a assisted?
MRSA is so common it's no longer a nosocomial infection it's everywhere! iv'e seen abscesses on taints, labias, armpits, legs, arms on and on. It's usually dirty people but it seems to infect just about anybody. If you work in an alf, nursing home or hospital you have been exposed to it. All I can say is WASH YOUR HANDS and don't use dirty razors over and over I seee alot of chicks getting them in shaven areas. They have to have a positive nasal swab to be put in isolation.
RESEARCHING MRSA,IT CAN BE CONTAGIOUS,ONLY IN TOUCHING THE AREA THATS INFECTEDAND USING EACH OTHERS TOWELS AND ECT.

BEING VERY CAREFUL WOULD ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM . SO, IT MIGHT WOULD HELP IF PEOPLE WOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AND USE MEASURES IN TAKING CARE OF A PATIENT THAT HAS THIS.
    http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/The鈥?/a>
Okay, so I work in a hospital, and MRSA precautions require isolation, contact precautions (gloves, gown, etc.) and sometimes negative pressure rooms. If the MRSA is confined to a small portion of the person (i.e. a wound or the nares), then avoiding contact with that body part will help prevent contamination. MRSA is only really dangerous if someone is immune compromised, or has an open wound, however, many elderly people have immunity issues. So this person should be on contact precautions, however I don't think it is necessary to completely isolate them. Just make sure you wash your hands.

On paper it isn't being isolationist, but in the case of the UN, for example, the US can participate as much or as little as it wants to (hence staying isolationist). The US resists almost every potential agreement with the UN because it doesn't like the idea of answering to any authority but itself. This is a very isolationist attitude.

Isolation vs. open trading with other people....

which one would allow a civilization be more successful and LONGER lasting?Would a civilization in isolation last longer than one that did a lot of trading?
a civilization would last much longer in isolation. for example, some global consequences from the neolithic agriculture revolution (7,000-3,000 bc) included an increase in world population which lead to increase in interaction which leads to more trading and conflict. so the more you interact with other civilizations that are different than your own the greater likely hood for conflict

Is Isolation muscle have any benefits in Martial arts?

Like curls Exercise that Target one specific muscle. Is Isolation muscle have any benefits in Martial arts?
As a martial artist it isn't a great idea to do body building techniques to build good fighting techniques. Repetitive motion, even such as curls, CAN build endurance but not typically for punching.

Isolating muscles, in my opinion as a practitioner of Goju Ryu Karate and Hung Gar Kuen, should primarily be used with less weight and more repetitions in an aim at building strength endurance as supplementary training, rather than just bulk.

Miyagi Chojun Sensei (Founder of Goju Ryu) had this to say:

';Hojo Undo (Supplementary exercises) are practiced with the aim of perfecting the kata. The purpose of the exercises is not only to develop strength and power in the body as a whole, but to develop each part of the body individually in order to develop complete body power.';Is Isolation muscle have any benefits in Martial arts?
Strength training is part of overall training for martial arts. Remember, the formula for kinetic energy is 1/3mv^2

That's basically half your weight times speed squared

Keep the entire formula in mind when you train

    Rick

    Sensei J. Richard Kirkham B.Sc.
for striking you don't want huge arms because the bulkier your arms are, the heavier they are, and the heavier they are the more the shoulders have to work to hold them up, and also if your arms are heavy your going to drop you hands alot, and you'll get tagged with your hands down, and possibly knocked out. And also if you have heavy arms your punches will be slower, USUALLY. not all the time, depends on the person i guess.

Muscles to work on would be alot of core building exercises, back, shoulders, triceps, and legs.
You are better to use combination/compound exercises. Huge biceps aren't going to help you if you don't have the lats as well. In martial arts you use a combination of muscles to perform any move so it is best to grow all the muscles that connect to perform movements. Not doing so could lead to injuries.

If you don't socialize for a while, like hold yourself in isolation, do you forget how?

If a person stops socializing as often as they once did for a long period of time, is it possible for them to forget how to socialize? Ex; if you play the piano well, but stop playing for years, you forget. But, like the piano, is it possible to regain social skills through practice? Like as if I were to start back playing the piano I would regain my skills? If you don't socialize for a while, like hold yourself in isolation, do you forget how?
You hit the nail on the head when you said social ';skills'; and , like any other skill, they improve with practice. I don't know if you actually forget how to socialize as much as you get out of practice. Being isolated seems like it could cause this to happen over a period of time. Just jump back into your life and the skills will return-just like playing the piano. If you don't socialize for a while, like hold yourself in isolation, do you forget how?
i don't think that you will forget about how to socialize.....but instead you feel awkward when you socialize......that is all. is not that you forgot how....but then you just don't feel comfortable when you do so after not doing it for awhile......i leave the rest to y0u....
no, to both Q's. It's like riding a bicycle, once u learn how the skill is still there. Just dormant, until u use it again. Once u sit and play a few notes(chop-sticks) on the piano, the skill will come back. Socializing skills are done everyday, if u say hi to someone or ask how they're doing, it's the opening, make plans, small to large groups or just 2. More than 1 equals a group and it's a social setting. Happy en devours and enjoy.
That would depend on how long you have isolated yourself. I took myself out of the social scene for sometime and it was really hard to get back into it because I was unsure of how to interact with other people... but slowly it became a little bit easier for me once I started socializing again.

Its like riding a bike, you never really forget how to because you did it once before, I think your just a little uneasy and shakey and find it a bit hard when you first get back on it.

The more you do it the easier it becomes.
social skills are most certainly affected by circumstances. a person who is isolated, either by choice or circumstance will lose many of their existing social skills. they may become withdrawn, have difficulty maintaining eye contact and may respond in inappropriate ways.

the good news is that social skills can resume when the person is reintroduced into the community and has more opportunities to interact with others. eventually any social deficits generally return with few noticeable differences.

some exceptions should be noted, would be the additional circumstances that led to their withdrawal from society. you cannot expect the same outcome from a person incarcerated as you would from someone who is on sabbatical in a woodland retreat.

and when reintroduced into society, the individual's response is largely dependent on returning to a setting where the social interactions would be appropriate and mentally stimulating.
The establishment doesn't want you to know this, but this is what autism is all about. the root word 'aut' is latin for self, as in auto. Autistic children are never taught to socialize (keep in mind this is only one person's theory so don't go bashing me for this). I saw on the nightly news a few weeks ago one state is now requiring insurance companies to pay for a very expensive treatment of autistic children that consists of one specially trained case worker to 'socialize' with that child for 8 hours a day. Unfortunately what they don't realize is that this method is futile as normal children do not learn to socialize in this way... I do believe there is hope for autistic children and for anyone for that matter to learn how to socialize... As the old saying goes ';It takes a village to raise a child';.

edit: also before I forget, I do think it is a little bit like riding a bicycle and also playing the piano. Most people, if they spend enough time in a foreign land, can actually 'forget' their native tongue (provided they do not practice it everyday with another native speaker). This actually happened to me for a split second in germany (I had spent 4 months there). someone approached me and started talking to me.... i couldn't understand what they were saying... so in english I said ';in english please?';.... she then said ';That was english...'; so it does usually come back to you, but its not like relearning to play Rachmaninoff's prelude in C # minor, its more like relearning to play chopsticks, as the previous poster said.
Not if you ever really knew how. Lasting social skills are based in common only. These you never forget, but you never learn them all, for these are infinite. The details are from your individual memories, abnd yes these do fade int the past, and your database loses interactive integrity. You really arent getting dumber, just less experienced.
I'm not sure, I haven't left my house or associated with anybody in about three years.
yes, i dont socialize much and sometimes i forget what the hell to do.
I believe it is. While I was reading ';Red Dragon'; by Thomas Harris, the antagonist coops himself up in his house and stays occupied with his job, straying from human contact. When he falls in love with a girl, he sees her at the bus stop, and wants to give her a ride home, but he doesn't know how. he finds himself literally thinking

    ';...what would someone say?';
YES. Studies by philosophers have shown that if people do not socialize for a long period of time they will become 'anti-social' and could possibly suffer from depression in the long run.

For example: people can forget what is socially wrong, and which things can offend certain people.

As stated above, its all about confidence, and to a point this is true, as people do loose confidence in themselves and this holds them back from socializing.

It is possible to regain social skills, but it is a slow process
It depends on how naturally socializing comes to you. If you were never really comfortable with it, it will be just as hard to get out there and try it again.

Even if you were a social butterfly before, sometimes cutting yourself off from other people for a long period of time can make it difficult to remember to be tolerant of others. I speak from experience when I say that took quite a bit of effort to regain my composure in social settings after a year seeing almost literally only one person.

But fear not! As with all things, a little practice and perserverance goes a long way, and it is well worth it. :) It's not much tougher than getting back on a bike. Keep a smile on your face and remember your social grace.
Ever heard the phrase ';social skills?'; They aren't a myth.

Yes, if you isolate yourself, eventually, you probably will feel out of place, possibly ';forgetting how'; to fit into a social environment.

And yes, you can get these skills back.
    Its all about confidence.

I too, have wondered...the photographer that goes to a third world country and takes pictures of kids starving to death, only to publish a book and make tons of money off it........isn't he exploiting the kids?

After years of thoughts, and thousands of examples, I decided no. It is possible to ';use'; those less fortunate, which results in personal gain, without it being exploitation.

The site you mention, Post Secret, is very interesting. Did the guy invent it in an attempt to become the next ';dot com millionaire?'; Probably. But he might have created it because he really cares about helping people. If accidentally becomes rich in the process, all the better.

We'll never know. Only God can see into his heart. And that is where and answer to your question lies. In the heart of the person doing the good deed.

People that donate ten million dollars to a college and get a huge building named after them....are pretty self serving. The person that makes an anonymous donation, regardless of the amount, is the person with a good heart.

It is a fine line. The Post Secret guy is milking this for all its worth. We can't see into his heart, but it appears he is helping people. That is a good thing.

    Peace.

Why and how does isolation cause dementia and why does it make a person behave and think more child like?

and is this true in your opinion?

    Why and how so?

Thanks for your answers! Why and how does isolation cause dementia and why does it make a person behave and think more child like?
I don't know about the child like bit, but solitude can have a very big effect on your mind. Alsorts of things can go on in your mind but it is kept in check by contact with other people. You sort of learn what is acceptable and what is not of each other. I have known loads of people who spend their whole working day on their own they all talk to themself. I think you get dementia because if you're with others all your thoughts come out in conversation, but if you are on you own to much you start having the conversations with youself. im not putting this very well. but you have an unreal world in your heaad when you are on your own and the normal world snaps back when you are in company, but if it goes on too long you may get stuck there. Why and how does isolation cause dementia and why does it make a person behave and think more child like?
i think it does. Without human contact, u revert back to what you were originally, before humans started influencing your thought and actions. Although kid's don't have as much experience. Being a smart adult with experience and acting like a kid is the best form a human can be.

Being yourself with your adult knowledge.
    Humans are social creatures

We need companionship and stimulating conversion

We also need to stimulate our brain regularly by using it.

People who are isolated may well have a lack of these

and so their brain cells may start to deteriorate

As for child like, maybe regression takes place, I really dont know

about that one, maybe it's because if you're isolated you feel as

if no-one cares and start to act child like as you crave

    love and attention

I'm looking for a tattoo that represents loneliness or isolation, any ideas?

I've searched the internet for weeks but I haven't found anything. The closest thing I've found are some Japaneese characters that translate to alone, does anybody have any better ideas?I'm looking for a tattoo that represents loneliness or isolation, any ideas?
Tarot cards. It sounds weird, but some of them are very artsy and have great depictions of feelings, mindsets and meanings. Plus, you can get ideas from there and change it up to make it more personal to you.

You could also try searching around Google with words similar to isolation and loneliness. Use a dictionary or thesaurus to get different words of similar meaning, it might just help you find different pictures.

(btw...I understand the loneliness thing completely)

A fun site to try for the time being is:

    http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/tar鈥?/a>

Other than that, the only other suggestion I have to you is ask an artist to draw something for you that he/she sees as a representation of lonelinessI'm looking for a tattoo that represents loneliness or isolation, any ideas?
Why get a depressing tattoo ward off people and make you more alone? How about lookinG in the mirror and tell yourself '; I AM BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFULLY MADE ';. You should not get one you can't improve on the mystery of perfect creation. Smile.
If you dont have any tatoos and you are a God fearing Chritian or Jew -- then don't do it !!! The Bible says this is against God's laws %26amp; you might be in jeapardy of your soul being lost forever.

Also, this might be something you will regret for other reasons later in life.

I understand lonely. I've been so lonely all my life, people dont seem to want to make new friends -- they have their group from school or work %26amp; they wont make an effort to be friends with anyone else! I've been thinking of putting an add in the paper to invite people who are also without current friends and have like interests to call me and meet somewhere public for the purpose of becoming friends. I know a woman who did this several years ago %26amp; we were good friends for years til she had to move! So, you might do the same in your town. Dont give up -- you could even run an add on the net! Just be causious and pick carefully. You are not the only one who is lonely -- it's a lonely planet, but you could do something about it -- you might even save someone's life! You never know!!! We are all human and we all have similar feelings and troubles! Try it, it cannot hurt !!!

By the way, we were and are all very nice looking ladies.
Before you get a tattoo, consider this - what happens when you're no longer lonely? Will you spend that extra however-much to remove it, or do you plan on adding an extra symbol that reads ';Lonely...no more';?
if you could somehow work this into the tattoo....a figure alone with no shadow?
Maybe an a small island, with a single tree, and a tattered looking fellow sitting under it looking, lonely?

Or, cheer up man. You need a shoulder, I can get you in line....

IM my tattoo advice and love line.

  • Why wasn't mccain in a ';Cone of silence'; or Isolation on saturday at the religious forum?

Was John McBush listening to the questions ahead, before his turn? Why wasn't mccain in a ';Cone of silence'; or Isolation on saturday at the religious forum?
He was, and the fact that in their first meeting, McCain thoroughly trounced Obama has really got you democrats searching for answers. Why wasn't mccain in a ';Cone of silence'; or Isolation on saturday at the religious forum?
Because he, like the rest of us, knew what the subject matters of the questions were going to be. So did Obama. He didn't have to cheat, or listen to Obama's answers. McCain's opinions were formed long before this forum....not like Obama's....his opinions change before every audience. That's why he is so ';cautious and deliberate'; when responding. It takes a good memory to remember what you are supposed to say to each particular audience. McCain gives the SAME answers everywhere he goes because he actually believes in his convictions. That's something Obama knows nothing about.
Paster Rick says he takes the candidates on faith and believes McCain when he says he wasn't listening to the broadcast on his way to the church. I could buy that if they'd tell us exactly why McCain was a half hour late. Did he have to stop and take a poop along the way? Did his wife call at the last minute to ask him to bring home a loaf of bread? Why was he late for an event where he knew he was suppose to be in a sound proof booth for an hour prior to his speaking?

This is not a made up story. McCain's people and Rick admits he wasn't at the church on time.
He obviously decided to set off late to the forum, knowing that Obama had a tv. shedule to keep, and the pastor was willing to lie about his whereabouts.

It is clear that the Republicans are willing to cheat in the debates, and the election,. No change there then.

What is more worrying is that the democrats as usual say nothing, one can only assume they are intent on being equally as corrupt given the chance.
Well, of course, John McCain must have had prior knowledge of the questions. He answered so well and so honestly. Obama, however, was a joke. As usual, without a teleprompter he could not speak clearly. So, in order to make him look better you Obamabots come up with an excuse for his less than stellar performance.
McCain looked smart, confident, at ease, with no hesitation, very Presidential

Obama looked uncomfortable, stuttered, unsure, child like.

McCain must have cheated. How could Obama the chosen one, the Savior of the planet, looked so dumb compared to a idiot Republican. McCain must have cheated, There is just no other way. Just like Bush Cheated. Its all Bush's fault. And Carl Rove don't forget Carl Rove.
Clearly he has no respect for the rules of engagement.... and he would carry that over to the White House. If he can't be trusted not to cheat in a situation like that... I think it's pretty likely that he would be just as quick to cheat the American people if he were ever elected to the Oval Office.

And yes, McCain knew what the questions would be before he ever got on that stage.
According to the New York Times and Washington Post, that rumor was started by the Obama campaign. Since Neither of those publications can be accused of leaning to to the right, I'm more inclined to believe than than I am to believe you.

Here's a little tip: you don't have to cheat to be better prepared than your opponent, and you're not doing Obama any favors.
Hey - blame the people who organized it, not McCain or Obama. The candidates were just going with the flow.

If the organizers didn't want to have a ';cone of silence'; or ';isolation booth'; then that's their decision.
    More importantly, why didn't McCain correct the statement that he was in ';the cone of silence';

Even the ';coin toss'; was a fix
I wouldn't worry about it. Obama should have been stern and told the fundies that their book isn't the objective set of morals they believe it is.
Once again, Miss know it all, Mr. McCain is NOT Mr. Bush and he was not privy to the questions being asked.
The whole thing, from start to finish, was so dishonest. It's a long know fact that the only way Republicans can win is by cheating. So cheat, they did.
Wrong. That is a story that the left made up out of thin air.

In other words - the fact that criminals don't have a job or home to go to (friends, family, etc)......this a major reason why they re-commit crimes that send them back into prison?

When offenders are released, do they get any help securing employment, etc. or are they released without assistance? CuriousAre isolation and rootlessness major causes of recidivism?
There are hundreds (if not more) theories as to why offenders tend to commit crimes again. It varies by institution, but many institutions now offer assistance inside and after release to help people secure steady work and get back on their feet after their debt to society is paid off.Are isolation and rootlessness major causes of recidivism?
Recidivism is caused by an unrehabilitated criminal. They may use excuses, but, those are not causal and certainly not major causes.

  • What is meant by the statement,';living things do not exist in isolation';?

Living things are part of an 'ecosystem'.

    In brief:

All living things are part of a community of organisms. Organisms within the community interact with each other and their environment. The living organisms require certain inputs from abiotic and biotic components of the system.

Abiotic: e.g. mineral ions and climate conditions.

Biotic: Interactions between organisms within different trophic (tropic) levels. E.g. Predator prey relationships, or the break down of dead organisms by bacteria and fungi returning nutrients to the system.

Additional info: Trophic Levels are used to describe the transfer of energy and matter through a community. This is often represented by biologists in a trophic/biomass pyramid. What is meant by the statement,';living things do not exist in isolation';?
to answer Brad for the co2 we emit.

to answer the rest even a single germ needs a host to survive. that is why vaccines are made to isolate themWhat is meant by the statement,';living things do not exist in isolation';?
Everything lives in a symbiotic relationship. We need plants for food and oxygen production. Why plants need us, I don't know!
By the term ';living'; one would think... it can not be there without a momma or a papa... at least I could not be here without both....
that you must be part of things and experience them to talk about them.

    good luck
It's fairly literal: If I left you in space, or in a closed room, you would die. An organism requires an environment for food, shelter, etc. Some organisms, e.g. chemosynthetic bacteria, can be considered more isolated than others, but still, the prerequisites for energy require something other than one organism itself to survive. This is why ecological management is important, we can't just destroy the planet, because it is what we need to survive.

Why is aseptic bacteriologic technique so important in the isolation of pure cultures?

Aseptic technique is the name given to the procedures used by microbiologists to prevent microbial contamination of themselves, which may result in infection, contamination of the environment they are working in (e.g. fomites), and contamination of the specimen they are working on, which is especially important when a pure culture is desired. It is used whenever specimens are to be transferred between media, for example, when subculturing. Such a procedure, using a flame sterilization method, might occur as follows:

Test tubesA person would assemble the closed tube or flask from which鈥攁nd the closed tube or flask to which鈥攖he specimen is to be transferred, an inoculating loop, and a fire source, all on a clean, preferably microbe-free surface with some overhead protection from airborne microbes.

The person would start the fire, and move the end of the inoculating loop, in a slow back-and-forth motion, through the top of the blue part of the flame. The person would not allow the loop to touch anything except the specimen itself, until the entire procedure is finished.

Preparing to execute the specimen transfer, the person would hold both of the tubes or flasks in one hand, probably the opposite of the writing hand. The person would then open the tube or flask containing the specimen source and briefly hold the top of it in the flame, to kill unwanted microbes.

Quickly, so as to minimize the possible time for contamination of the specimen in the source tube or flask, the person would use the inoculating loop with their writing hand to retrieve the specimen, and then sterilize the top of the tube or flask again before immediately closing it.

Keeping in mind that the specimen on the inoculating loop could be contaminated during every unit of time it is exposed, the person would repeat the previous step identically with the tube or flask in which the specimen is to be deposited; however, the person would be depositing the sample into the tube or flask.

Students of microbiology are taught the principles of aseptic technique by means of hands-on laboratory experience. Practice is essential in learning how to handle the laboratory tools without contaminating them.

Why is aseptic bacteriologic technique si important in the isolation of pure culture?

If you're trying to isolate a particular culture you don't want to contaminate your sample with an outside bacteria. If you did you reduce your chances of selecting the correct colony. Why is aseptic bacteriologic technique si important in the isolation of pure culture?
I've never heard of aseptic bacteriologic technique before.. but I have heard of aseptic technique and I use it.

It is very important to have aseptic technique because it ensures that you don't contaminate the culture. If you don't use aseptic technique, your risk of contamination is high.

Aseptic techiques when doing an experiment in an biological hood is making sure all of your working surfaces are wiped clean with alcohol and diluted bleach solution before starting the experiment. Be sure to put all the the instruments and equipment in the hood before hand and maker sure they are sterilized before going in there. You may need a bunsen burner to sterilze your equipment. Make sure you open your packages inside the hood.

When using pipets, make sure you don't touch the tip to any thing that would make it not sterile.

If so, how long where in this situation, how did you get over it?Have you ever had a period of isolation in you life?
im in an almost constant state of isolation. every few years i end up trying despearated to un isolate myslef buy letting people in but every time i get hurt bad and throw myslef ack into a period of isolation. i used to get attached to people easily and i guess i still do but i forced myslef not to. its a hard act to keep up but its easyer then social interaction. i dont know how one would go about breaking down boundaries. just being strong and confident i guess. exept that you may be hurt and that thigs might not work out but go for it anyway, otherwise you will be alone forever and ever and one day you will look back and think 'if only i had tried' when its too late.

wow i think answering your question has just helped meHave you ever had a period of isolation in you life?
I am experiencing this isolation right now, I am from a very close nit family, but then i migrated to USA, I got hurt by my first boyfriend in US, and that led to my isolation, then a woman befriended me, whom i thought was a friend, but she wanted to be more than friends(which i was not into), then this encounter only sealed my isolation, i wonder who can I trust, as my family is not around. Now i am not saying that i am not one to talk to people, as a matter of fact, i do have a very pleasant personality, which people love to be around, but i can't find it to get close to anyone anymore.

I am hoping that this would change, because it can be a lonely life, living like this, It has to be a conscious effort to overcome. I wish you the best, and myself also.

    How does isolation build suspense?

Im doing this essay and i need to know this for a couple sentances. So how does isolation in a film build suspence in the audience. please answer quickly. thnx in advance. How does isolation build suspense?
well, the internal thought processes are often more prominent, thus the true feelings and innermost thought processes of characters are displayed and often dramatised/intensified, possibly demonstrating underlying problems or psychological flaws. hence, the presence of these flaws or problems may increase the suspense, causing the responder to wonder what effect these true feelings/thoughts may have on the plot/character/situation.

isolation can also lead to insanity, and the audience may be curious and intensely desiring to know whether or not the character may loos a part of themselves/their mind.

isolation causes people to become erratic and moody over long periods of time, and often morals or social values slowly decline and disappear. A sort of dystopic environment is created, and anything could spontaneously erupt (aka an argument, corruption, etc) and cause major social or interpersonal upheaval, thus the audience is left hanging as to what conflicts may arise from the increased tension, caused initially by the isolation.

gosh, hope that all made sense. By the way, the concept of 'dystopia' is quite literally the opposite of 'Utopia' - a term coined by sir thomas more, meaning a perfect society, hence a dystopic environment is one which is corrupt, imperfect, imbalanced and immoral.

good luck with your essay! How does isolation build suspense?
Keep in mind point of view shots- as in isolation from a pov shot makes audience uncomfortable as isolation does in real life. Its about audience empathy- which sets up responsive feelings and emotions which then get played upon by climax.

A bit like letting someone walk around your house without knowing you're there, then jumping out. Had they known you were there the moment of surprise wouldn't have been as shocking, therefor lessening the climax.

How does America's geographic isolation ad xenophobia hurt her interests?

In this age, we are far from isolated.

Your second assertion is unanswerable in its current form, for it is too open ended - should we embrace extremism as in overt fanatical beliefs (Fundamental Islam, black ministers being racist, a secretive President (Obama still continues to keep his school records sealed)?

Perhaps if you specify which different or unknown things you feel we are fearful of, that would help.

Embracing different or unknown things does not imply progressiveness. And not all progressiveness is beneficial.

    Questions

Are you afraid of the gangs which rule our cities? That is a new thing (different)?

Or the rapidly changing political makeup of our nation - immigrants coming here but remaining loyal to their home nation in an attempt to dilute our own political base?

Change is not always good, but can be devastating. Just look at our nation's moral aptitudes. Did not the permissiveness of sex bring about the tidal wave of abortions? How does America's geographic isolation ad xenophobia hurt her interests?
I think you are wrong on both points.

the US is no longer geographically isolated and it doesn't suffer from xenophobia.

I don't mind people coming here from other countries.

I just want them to do it LEGALLY.

If they are here ILLEGALLY, I want them removed. How does America's geographic isolation ad xenophobia hurt her interests?
Since there are people living in the United States from every corner of the world, you would have trouble convincing a rational person than the US is isolated or xeonophobic. By way of contrast, an example of a nation that is xenophobic would be Japan.
We are not xenophobia we believe people should come here legally.

Look who is the white house.

Those who come to this country illegally are the ones who bother us.
    Were not xenophobic, were cautious.
Your question begs far too many questions.
that is why usa attacked iraq and afghanistan and now pointing guns at iran and pakistan.makes sense.doesn't it?
    it helps

Do you think that Russia will soon be in a dangerous isolation?

After U.S.A. and NATO surrounding it with their faithful ';satellites'; ?

Do you think that Russia will soon be in a dangerous isolation?
    Isolation ?

Isolated from whom ? From the states ? - nothing's new : USA did all in order to destroy the Soviet Union, to start fires everywhere in the world, with the Talibans in Afghanistan for instance - Doing so USA and the Cia knew that the Afghan war would be very destructive for Russia - Now Russia is building its foreign policy in a coherent way - Russia is attacked on its territory and reacts by expelling Georgians back into their country - why should this isolate them more or less ? - they just apply the internatonal rules of self-defence - this reminds me how Irakis were expelled from Koweit by a western coalition in 1991 - this was not more or less isolating for the US coalition than it is today for Russia -

The problem of isolation is not so much a problem for Russia as for the US - until the last day Bush, the garbage, will multiply his sick initiatives in order to justify the anti-missile system in Eastern Europe,

how ? very simple, just by creating a situation through his agents in Georgia, in which Russians have no choice : they must react and show their tanks, facing the burlesque ( but not funny ) invasion of Ossetia by Georgian clowns - a good reminiscence of the cold war when tanks invaded Prag or Warsaw - a way to exert a pressure on Poland in order to build further elements of the anti-missile US system in Europe, which is in case a one-way return to the cold-war situation -

Russia is not isolated - Until the dismissal of Bush, they will have to show how patient they are facing the neurotical gesticulations of the ape,and his female friceak -

Russia has no satellites anymore - you're late - nothing very new - but they have strong friends such as Kazakhstan- look at a map - China - India -

Yes I think that the States will soon be in a dangerous isolation - they should care about their inner problems and dedicate their resources towards a re-construction of their society - Do you think that Russia will soon be in a dangerous isolation?
The encirclement of Russia was primarily a project of the Exxon-Mobil Team (also known as the Bush-Cheney administration). Outside of that team, there is precious little support in USA or NATO in isolating Russia. Also, the Bush-Cheney team currently has record low public approval, and their term in office is almost over.

The interests of Exxon-Mobil are not the same as the US national interests. So unless Russia threatens USA as a country, it should expect no hostility or isolation from us.
it's really sad, but maybe...for some time...as a whole world is build around one economic. American for now. But it is scientifically proved that every economic goes up %26amp; down. We might be witnessing it's recession. It will take some time though but it's clearly coming. Country with less then 300 years history just can't believe it. Russia went thru this several times just like other countries did. It's normal %26amp; predictable. So everything is just a matter of time...I'm proud to be russian %26amp; i belive in my country...just like most americans belive in America. The only difference is that Russian doesn't need somebody elses opinion or support to be a member of a world comunity like Georgia does right now...
    1. Russia NEVER threatened Poland with nuclear attack or anything of the kind. Don't listen to anything you are being served guys!

    2. It is true that this is what the US are trying to do. But who isolated the US for their actions? No one. If Russia proves her power she won't be isolated. It is all a matter of power. Not only military, that is.
I hope not I was very happy that Russia was now accessible and open after all the decades of it being lost behind an iron curtain, I like Russian people I find them very friendly and intelligent I would hate to lose them again, Lets hope this Georgia thing can be settled and we can continue with our good Russian friends.
there are already satellites spying on everyone, by adding more i dont think it will make a huge difference, and no they wont be in isolation :P

if anything they break out in anger and shoot some missiles
I am afraid so. But let's hope and pray this will not happen.
I think that Russia is walking a very tight line with the USA and the EU. I think that if they decide to do something like bomb Poland like they are talking about I think that Russia will find itself in the middle of WW3.
Russia threatens nuclear attack on Poland over US missile shield deal. In other words, Russia threatens Poland with genocide. It is only a defensive missile system, not offensive. Forget isolation, they must be caged.

In a chloroplast isolation lab using spinach leaves, why does everything have to be kept cold?

I've heard it helps maintain chloroplast activity, but what exactly does that mean?In a chloroplast isolation lab using spinach leaves, why does everything have to be kept cold?
Since your spinach leaves probably aren't attached to the plant any more, the cells in those leaves no longer have access to the nutrients and water in the soil. The cells need nutrients and water from the soil to power the chemical reactions that keep them alive. So now that they've been cut off from the source, they are going to run out of nutrients/water and eventually die.

By keeping the leaves cold, you slow down the rate of all the chemical reactions happening in those cells. Since the reactions are occurring more slowly, it will take longer for the cells to run out of nutrients and water. In essence, you're prolong the cells' lifespans. That gives you more time to work with the leaf and isolate your chloroplasts before all the cells (and organelles within them) die.

What are some good ways for a defensive tackle[in a 4-4 scheme] to defend against Isolation/Counter plays?

well i help coach middle school and we run a 4-4 defense and i coach all the linemen. I would say if its a isolation play the middle linebackers have to help out with that lead blocker on the isolation plays. On the counter they just have to learn to stay in there zones on counter plays and defend. plain and simply put. look for some drills online to teach it.

What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?

Social isolation is practiced by people who prefer to be alone.

Social anxiety is what a person suffers if they are not comfortable in a group situation.

Often both go together, but not always. It is possible to have either without the other.

Some people prefer to be alone, but are also comfortable in a group.

Some people are uncomfortable in a group, but do not want to be alone. They are miserable all the time. What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?
Social anxiety means that oyu become anxious in social situations, but do not neessarily avoid them. Social isolation means that you avoid all social conatct. Social isolation is often a part of conditions such as schizophrenia, because the sufferer is afraid of his condition, and afraid that people may be laughing at him when he reacts to the voices in his head. What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?
Social isolation is what a loner does

Social anxiety is when someone gets anxiety, or becomes increasingly, extremely, nervous and stressed in social situations

The two intertwine usually : ]
    isolation means not sharing anything

and anxiety mean not want to share anything

so the basic difference is your desire

  • What is the difference between noise-canceling and noise-isolation headphones? Which is more effective?

Because the cancelling effect used alone cannot be perfect, the noise-isolation method works the best.

There are some headphones that use BOTH techniques - over the ear for isolation and active cancelling for remaining lower frequency noise that is hard to block. These are the best. I haven't spent the $300, but I tried a friend's pair - the Bose over the ear noise cancelling are amazing. What is the difference between noise-canceling and noise-isolation headphones? Which is more effective?
A noise canceling headphone has a microphone and an electronic circuit to pickup and feed a signal to the speaker inside the headset. The phase is reversed electronically which effectivly cancels the outside noise. These sets have a battery inside them to power the electronics.

Noise Isolation type headphones work the same way an ear protection to block outside noise. They are either soft foam that fits in the ear or the large over the ear cups. They are totally passive - No electronics - and are quite effective. They do bother some people who do not like plugs in their ears though.

What are the sample types submitted to lab for isolation & identification?

samples can be sent out for anything, from blood, urine, skin, sputum, stool to bone and fluid aspirates. They are sent to the laboratories in different containers depending on the sample type and the condition under evaluation. feel free to ask for more specfic questions, good luck

Psychological symptoms of isolation from human contact?

What would the effects on the mind be for a person to be unwillingly cut off from contact with any communication or contact with other adutl people?Psychological symptoms of isolation from human contact?
Have you ever seen castaway? You would eventually become completely de-socialized. You might die earlier than you would have otherwise, assuming that this is a permanent thing.Psychological symptoms of isolation from human contact?
Sounds like someone who is sentenced to a life in solitary confinement. He or she would probably suffer from severe psychological trauma. However, this kind of hypothetical situation would rarely occur, unless it was self-inflicted. In other words, if you were to shut yourself away from all human contact. If that would happen, then you would be considered to have psychological problems to begin with. Your question makes me wonder why you asked it.
    Peace and quiet.
It is one form of torture -- the absolute silence, nobody to hear you and reply. I would be great for awhile, then I think I'd want to talk to someone other than myself. It creates dysfunctional people because the body does not know time -- remember -- time doesn't exist -- it is either the past of the future.

What is reproductive isolation in biology?

What is reproductive isolation, pre and post zygotic barriers? What is reproductive isolation in biology?
Reproductive isolation is a barrier which doesn't allow species to reproduce together even though there might not e a physical barrier. Pre zygotic barriers are things that happen before the baby is born such as lack of nutrients causing the fetus or whatever to die. Post zygotic happens after the baby is born and it can be dying at a young age, or even growing to full age, but being unable to reproduce. What is reproductive isolation in biology?
I see the LB/misz connection is still going on. LB asks, misz answers (correct answer not required), LB chooses misz's answer as BA. Report Abuse

Reproductive isolation is when two populations of organisms are some how prevented from interbreeding and exchanging genes.

Pre-zygotic barriers are some times called ';fertilization barriers'; and are anything that prevents sperm and ovum from getting together. This could be a physical barrier like a river or mountain range that the members of both populations cannot cross. Or it could be a sexual preference like the females only mating with males that have blue spots and never with males that have brown spots. It could even be the shape and size of the animals' genitalia (especially common barrier in insects).

Post-zygotic barriers are sometimes called ';hybrid barriers'; and are anything that happens after fertilization. This could be chromosome incompatibilities so that the fertlized egg never even divides and turns into an embryo. Or it could be a fully healthy offspring that survives to adulthood but is sterile.
where u isolate yourself because nobody will reproduce with you

How does geographic isolation attribute to speciation?

this is for a 9th grade review and umm its not in the bookHow does geographic isolation attribute to speciation?
Evolution, which eventually leads to speciation occurs at the population level. When two populations are geographically isolated there can be no gene transfer between the two and the genome of the populations become different through random mutations and other factors (a condition known as genetic drift). Genetic drift over an extended period of time will result in speciation as the organisms continue to adapt to different environments. How does geographic isolation attribute to speciation?
    The animals isolated evolve.
Darwin's classic study in evolution was done on finches that had evolved into different species after they migrated to different islands.

The birds developed, over successive generations, different characteristics that best suited their environment. Eventually, the birds on different islands grew so different from one another that they were separate species.

When is isolation rebellion and control in 1984 or Animal Farm?

I'm doing a research paper on comparing and contrasting the two books, by the way.

    Ok-

How does the governement shove those three things upon the person so they will not rebel against the government??

Mainly ----%26gt;isolationnnnn%26lt;---When is isolation rebellion and control in 1984 or Animal Farm?
well, i don't know about 1984, but in animal farm, here's what I got:

    - The pigs make sure that when one animal tries to rebel, none of the other animals dare to follow them. They cause the animal to fail and then later execute it.

    - the pigs (namely Napoleon) take complete power and dictates the farm to a point where very little of the original animals remain. this way, all the animals on the farm think that napoleon's way of having control is just meant to be, and that that's how life's supposed to work.

    - and of course rebellion is the way that the animals acquired animal farm.

well, that's all i got. Tell me if this helps. Good luck!

  • How does isolation and lack of human contact effect people?

What is the importance of isolation and identification of unknow bacteria?

our instructor give us a mixed culture and we have to seperate this two bacteria until we get a pure culture then we have to identify the names of this two bacteriaWhat is the importance of isolation and identification of unknow bacteria?
In the human body, there are more bacterial cells than human cells. If a patient comes into a doctor's office and the symptoms are not enough for a doctor to make a diagnosis, he or she must be able to isolate the pathogenic bacteria in order to treat the patient.

Thus, understanding the individual properties of each species is extremely important. Also, each type of antibiotic kills certain types of bacteria. Penicillin does not kill all pathogenic bacteria. We must isolate and study each specimen in order to combat it for medicinal purposes.

Pls. give the difference between Isolation Valves & Block valves?

pls. tell me the differnce between isolation and block valves and also where it to be used .Pls. give the difference between Isolation Valves %26amp; Block valves?
*Terminology is differentiated on the basis of their application.

    *Isolation Valves:

In some plants with fluid systems, some 2-way valves can be designated as normally shut or normally open during regular operation. Examples of normally shut valves are sampling valves, which are only opened while a sample is taken. Examples of normally open valves are isolation valves, which are usually only shut when there is a problem with a unit or a section of a fluid system such as a leak. Then, isolation valve(s) are shut in order to isolate the problem from the rest of the system.

    *Block valve:

A valve that can block the flow of oil in a pipeline in both directions. Block valves include manual gate valves and remote gate valves.

Generally it is differing in the sense that block valve used in emergency but it is same as the isolation valve.

There are some line block valve and some combine systems like ';Block and Bleed valve';.

http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?q鈥?/a>Pls. give the difference between Isolation Valves %26amp; Block valves?
An isolation valve allows you to open one end of it, to allow material to flow, without coming in contact with another material, that is using the same plumbing.

    http://search.globalspec.com/ProductFind鈥?/a>

A Block valve simply shuts off the supply.

    http://www.plasticvalves.com/safety_bloc鈥?/a>

There's numerous systems that use isolation valves. Let's say you want to make some ice cream, you open the isolation valve to let the milk flow into the mixer, then open the valve to let in the cream. Depending on the valve type, you could then open it to allow in the vanilla, sugar, egg, etc. All with the same valve. It just keeps the ingredients from coming in contact . A block valve is used to shut off a supply, so you can perform maintenance, or just stop the flow.
The two terms are used interchangeably. They are valves that are used to completely interrupt flow as opposed to a valve that is used to throttle or control flow without stopping it.

What does the basketball term, isolation mean?

When a team is isolationg or there is an isolation what is happening? What does isolation mean? What does the basketball term, isolation mean?
Isolation is where a team spreads the players out wide...and usually the guard just holds the ball..Most times teams are doing this when they have the lead and try to take time off the clock without getting the ball stolen and suchWhat does the basketball term, isolation mean?
4 players on the team spread out while the fifth player(usually a guard) either try's to burn clock or go 1 on 1 with the defender
A team runs isolation to give a good ballhandler the opportunity to start a 1 on 1 play. The offensive squad without the ball drags the defense to the corners, in an attempt to clear the driving lane. As soon as the ballhandler makes a move past his defender, the offense returns inside for the rebound.

This play has to be executed with caution because an obvious attempt is simple for the defense to read.
Isolation is a play set in which the player that has the ball goes one on one with his/her defender. Also the other four players on the team spread out on the floor to create an area in which the player (now in the ';iso'; position) has room to operate.
isolation means when you spread your players out to get a 1 on 1
isolation is when a team trys to isolate someone on their team who they think can score on their opponent who they are matched up with in a man to man. this may be because he/she has a height, speed or skill advantage over his/her opponent. what usually happens is the players spread out so the help defenders can't help the guy guarding the ball out. however, each team does this differently. if you are playing and someone calls isolation or ';iso';, which is short for isolation, just go far away from the guy with the ball if you are confused or don't know what to do.

  • Do you agree that voluntary isolation is the key to self awareness?

I know that it is one possible avenue to self- awareness. As with many things in life, a person needs to find the route that works best for that individual.Do you agree that voluntary isolation is the key to self awareness?
    No.

I prefer a type of self-awareness that is constructed not only from knowing yourself, but also knowing how others see you in various contexts (eg. family, professional, neighbour, community, school, etc.)

If you see yourself from more angles, it makes your self-knowledge more complete and detailed. If you only know yourself from one point-of-view (your own), then this would make knowledge of yourself very narrow.

Voluntary isolation can help with being able to organize your self knowledge into a coherent form (eg. ';a top-10 characteristics of me'; list)Do you agree that voluntary isolation is the key to self awareness?
Voluntary focus on God and Soul, a la Plotinus and Husserl, is a key toward Self-realization.

Similarly, a genuine Teacher of the higher life (e.g., Ann Ree Colton, O. M. Aivanhov, Eknath Easwaran, Paramahansa Yogananda, Reverend Mary Baker Eddy, and Mark Prophet) is able to direct and assist ';self awareness'; immeasurably.

';The Way of Inner Vigilance,'; Salim Michael, and

';To Live Within,'; Lizelle Reymond, are important books in this awareness process. (Professor Jacob Needleman characterized Reymond's volume as introducing a new way to the West.)

Among the previously-mentioned authors, would note ';Climb the Highest Mountain,'; Prophet, ';Watch Your Dreams'; and ';Men in White Apparel,'; Colton, ';A Philosophy of Universality'; and ';Man, Master of His Destiny,'; Aivanhov, ';Autobiography of a Yogi,'; Yogananda, http://www.easwaran.org. and ';Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer,'; by Yvonne von Fettweis, as good. Dr. Jack Kornfield's ';Meditation for Beginners,'; also.

Husserl's ';Experience and Judgment'; is a more technical look at self-awareness.
This I would call solitude. There is clearly recognisable need for solitude in the mind. Not only thinkers, philosopher, poets and scientists seek solitude but normal people also tend to spend at least some time every day in the company of their own private thoughts and reflections. There is no doubt that deepens thoughts to new levels and enhances our ability to reflect upon things for better their understanding. Solitude is the place where we find our true self exposed, our conscious awoken, our thoughts audible and emotions visible. The desire for solitude is in fact a desire to know oneself, and through this to know the world that one essentially belongs to. I can see myself in the crowd most easily only when the crowd has all but disappeared when only echoes have remained. I see in my what I have been and what I could have been. Reflective thoughts of this nature tend to be readily introspective in nature leading the focus of attention deep within the inner most recesses of the mind and heart. Where in the crowed I was like a search light focused only upon certain things, in my solitude I am like a candle peaceful and seeing all around.
Yes. When you feel it is needed.
It dependens on what type and level of self awareness you are seeking. A lot can be learned by interacting with others.
maybe!!..but its still the ';self';..that wants to be aware of.....???

or is it the self that wants to be aware of some other.....??

not an easy one to ..be aware of...something when its that same ';something that is actually try to be aware of its self!!
I disagree. Isolating yourself will help you be more self-absorbed but this is not the same as self awareness. You need to see how you interact with life around you to understand yourself better. A short period alone every day is all you need for this kind of reflection in my experience.
yes and no. to be isolated for a time can make you more self aware but our views of ourselves are skewed. for example look at people that have problems like eating disorders and though those are extrema cases there are many less extreme and almost every one of us has one. so there are somethings about ourselves we have to find in a dark lonely corner but there are others that need to be discovered with someone else (friend, family or lover).
No. Self awareness is experiencing your life as an individual.
On the contrary, it is necessary to mix to gain self awareness and stature, based on the opinion and awareness of others' abilities and continuous improvement of communication and personal development.

Isolation can only lead to self torture emotionally or physically
It can be sometimes but there should be periods of mixing with others as well. Also, sometimes one can find oneself through interaction and service.
    I want to be alone.
There used to be a tramp in Wolverhampton that voluntarily chose to isolate himself from society, much like a hermit. only his cave was a tent and instead of a remote place it was on the wolverhampton ring road. he was as nutty as a snickers bar. make of that what you will. :oP
If it was, solitary isolation wouldn't be used as a punishment, it would be seen as a privilege.
If you believe that is true, voluntarily put yourself into an isolation tank, then see if you discover your ';self awareness'; before you go totally mad.

i think there is a digital camera out there that has the function where it will isolate a color when taking a picture. for example it will take a pic black and white but only red will come up. any ideas? What digital camera has the isolation color effect?
Acutally, selective color black and white photos are something which are not produced in-camera but through photo editing applications such as photoshop. They are actually fairly easy to produce, but a bit cliche these days because of their overuse in commercial photography.

Christians, if a group of you were stranded in long-term isolation without Bibles, would you try to write one?

Think nuclear holocaust, just a group of several hundred to repopulate the Earth and no Bibles survived. Would you try to record the Bible as you recall it, or would you let future generations do without?Christians, if a group of you were stranded in long-term isolation without Bibles, would you try to write one?
I'm sure God would pick at least one of us and guide us to rewrite the Bible word for word.Christians, if a group of you were stranded in long-term isolation without Bibles, would you try to write one?
Go the oral tradition, of teaching lessons to the next generation with words, and symbols and song. Show the emotion and truth of making way too many bad choices.

Perhaps it will be told how Coyote finally landed a nuclear device, and leveled it against his cousins.

We would learn of how men's greed brought us here, and how we must be content people who are tenders and care takers of this planet.

Our people must go about the Earth as guests, not brutal task masters.
There have been many occasions when Christians have put their memories of the Bible on paper. Because the memorizing of scripture is something that has been important to Christians for generations, isolated groups have been able to preserve large sections of the scriptures without any printed Bibles to work from.
I'm not a Christian, but I would write down everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, I know. Physics, mathematics, Hindu philosophy, Sanskrit, all the history I know, my life up to that point, etc, basically everything I know.
THAT is what memorization is so important. Because you can never know when the bible might be taken from us. I do have some verses memorized. NOT near enough but with others who have the word memorized we just might have the bible recorded in our hearts.

Gods word is profitable and IT Never comes back void.

It accomplished all it was intended to.

And how long has it been since you read the bible and God told you, SON%26lt; I LOVE YOU?
I would get together with a bunch of other Christians and do my best to write the scripture that i know. For scripture that i can't quote word for word, i would probably say ';words to this effect'; maybe. I dunno... interesting question though
I'm not sure I could remember who begat who, but I'd definitely make an effort. Besides, I'm not one who thinks the text is inerrant anyway.
Too much pretending. Whatever happens in the future, I would trust the God of the Bible in any case over man and his diviancy. God has shown me more through his Spirit than I have learned in the Bible anyway!
God would tell us what to do.

If he wants the Bible 'recreated' then he will tell us so and we will translate it for future generations, just like the original Bible.
I don't think it is possible for this to happen, nevertheless... I would try and recall as mush as possible, yes.
Trying to write the Bible from memory, never mind making paper from scratch, and ink and a pen from scratch would be quite the task

I don't think writing it in the sand is an option.
Neither ... just like the current one, I leave it ALL - the entire project within the hands which wrote it [inspired it] in the very first place and who can make the prophesies therein, a reality.

So Christians supposedly hell is isolation from God right?

Well then doesn't that mean we will go on living just fine we'll just be away from GOd. Well what about all those people who are perfectly okay with being away from a tyrannic and barbaric immature Deity such as me? Then why should we convert if we won't be tortured as I've heard some of you say we'll just be away from him?So Christians supposedly hell is isolation from God right?
that was the original idea, when that was so horrible in itself. You have to realize that until maybe 100-200 years ago God was the reasoning for everything. Things like procreation even, all God, people were stupid, ignorant, and well, just feeble. So the cut from God, since he was all, was enough.

Later the stakes had to be upped, so hellfire, torture, what have you.So Christians supposedly hell is isolation from God right?
Hell is one of those subjects that makes people uncomfortable. We hear stories of hell being a place of fire, demons, and endless torment. Throughout history many authors have written about it, Dante's Inferno for example. Western culture is very familiar with the concept. Even Hollywood has made it the subject of many movies. Whatever the context, whatever the belief, hell is definitely taught in the Bible. But even the doctrine of hell is not without its controversy. Some say it is only the grave with no consciousness. Others say it is a place of correction and punishment that is not eternal. Others say it is an endless agonizing punishment in fire. Whichever it is, hell is the total absence of the favor of God.
Literally speaking, ';Hell'; would be a life on the lam -- always trying to get yourself further and further from God's holiness. Hell is relational in nature and involves banishment from heaven. Mental and physical anguish result from the sorrow and shame of the judgment of being forever relationally excluded from God, heaven, and so forth. In this sense, someone with greater sins has more to ';be ashamed of'; than someone with lesser sins. Thus the lesser sinner may perhaps be able to withstand God's omnipresence to a greater degree than a greater sinner; to put it another way, the person who has greater sins finds themselves to run harder, more often, and farther than the person with lesser sins.

Scripture indicates that the primary focus of eternal punishment is the denial of the honor accorded to those who reject God's offer of salvation, and who bear themselves the shame and disgrace Jesus took in their stead. Therefore there is no inequality in the ';suffering'; -- these persons have denied God His ascribed honor; they are denied in turn the honor that is given to human beings, who are created with the intent that they live forever in God's service, reigning with Christ and serving him. They choose rather the shame and disgrace of serving their own interests; they are also shamed in accordance with their deeds (i.e., Hitler obviously has more to be ';ashamed of'; than, say, a robber baron). By denying their ascribed place in the collective identity of humanity, they are placed outside the boundaries, exactly as they desire to be and to the extent that their deeds demanded. God gives us the freedom to move away from God's love even at the risk of destroying ourselves. Hell is not God's choice. It is ours.
You will be tortured, and separation from God is far worse than you think. Being on earth as an atheist, you don't believe in God, but He still watches over you. In hell, He doesn't even do that. Demons have full reign over you to do to you whatever they please, and trust me, they'll torture you until they're thrown in the lake of fire, but when that happens you'll be thrown in, too. Then, you can all be tortured together. Anyway, complete separation from God is horrible, and being ripped apart by demons, burnt in fire, etc. is horrible, too. Trust me, you don't want to go to hell.
If Hell is isolation from their God, then -- good news! -- Hell CANNOT exist.

    Why not?

Because their God is EVERYWHERE, remember?

Therefore their God is in Hell, too.

Therefore Hell is not isolation from God.

    Therefore Hell does not exist.
Don't believe in what some say. Some say a lot of things, and breath doesn't make someone right.

    Isaiah 2:22-

    ';Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?';

Seek the scriptures on the matter. You will find, for one thing, that hell is a place where the soul ceases to be; and by definition, Hell doesn't exist yet.
Hell is eternal torment, NOT ';isolation from God'; or ';separation from God';.

Jesus said that hell is eternal torment.

Nobody has to be sent to hell. The only way to avoid being sent to hell, is by believing the truth about Jesus in faith alone.

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what!

Please pray now: ';Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!'; You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)
After seeing God, you will want to be with him forever, but if you are truly evil, he will make you the isolated from him, and you will be in fact, as miserable as you were if you were on fire.
That's why i left christianity...you're beginning to understand the confusion, congrats!

    Here's wisdom for you:

    JESUS=666, LUCIFER=666, GOSPEL=666, CROSS=666

    Proof: A=9, B=18, C=27, D=36, E=45, ... Z=234
yes, isolation, but.....you will also burn in hell !!! so please be careful what you believe in this life
Hell is a creation of the Catholic Church to scare people into believing.

Ohhh...and giving them your money also.
Hell is the common grave where all dead people go . don't believe the religious hype.
