How did China's geographic isolation affect its development?

1. Preserved the ancient artistic culture.

2. Left them industrially unimproved in contrast to surrounding nations.

3. Protected their language from change.

4. Left them unadvised on other-country cultural innovations and influence.

5. Limited their trade opportunities. How did China's geographic isolation affect its development?
In Chinese, China literally means ';Middle Kingdom.'; The Chinese isolated themselves from the west and foreigners in numerous ways; the Great Wall, for example. This isolation gives China a unique culture. Silk, fireworks, paper, compasses, numerous inventions originated in China. Its isolation forced China to become self-reliant on its own resources as well.
