What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?

Social isolation is practiced by people who prefer to be alone.


Social anxiety is what a person suffers if they are not comfortable in a group situation.





Often both go together, but not always. It is possible to have either without the other.





Some people prefer to be alone, but are also comfortable in a group.





Some people are uncomfortable in a group, but do not want to be alone. They are miserable all the time.What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?
Social anxiety means that oyu become anxious in social situations, but do not neessarily avoid them. Social isolation means that you avoid all social conatct. Social isolation is often a part of conditions such as schizophrenia, because the sufferer is afraid of his condition, and afraid that people may be laughing at him when he reacts to the voices in his head.What is the difference between social anxiety and (social) isolation?

Social anxiety is when someone gets anxiety, or becomes increasingly, extremely, nervous and stressed in social situations

    1. Social isolation can happen for many different reasons, one of those reasons (for some people) is Social Anxiety.

      One question you could ask yourself is, do you feel anxious (to the point of it interfering with your life) when you are in certain social situations. If so, then you have social anxiety.
