How does isolation build suspense?

Im doing this essay and i need to know this for a couple sentances. So how does isolation in a film build suspence in the audience. please answer quickly. thnx in advance. How does isolation build suspense?
well, the internal thought processes are often more prominent, thus the true feelings and innermost thought processes of characters are displayed and often dramatised/intensified, possibly demonstrating underlying problems or psychological flaws. hence, the presence of these flaws or problems may increase the suspense, causing the responder to wonder what effect these true feelings/thoughts may have on the plot/character/situation.

isolation can also lead to insanity, and the audience may be curious and intensely desiring to know whether or not the character may loos a part of themselves/their mind.

isolation causes people to become erratic and moody over long periods of time, and often morals or social values slowly decline and disappear. A sort of dystopic environment is created, and anything could spontaneously erupt (aka an argument, corruption, etc) and cause major social or interpersonal upheaval, thus the audience is left hanging as to what conflicts may arise from the increased tension, caused initially by the isolation.

gosh, hope that all made sense. By the way, the concept of 'dystopia' is quite literally the opposite of 'Utopia' - a term coined by sir thomas more, meaning a perfect society, hence a dystopic environment is one which is corrupt, imperfect, imbalanced and immoral.

good luck with your essay! How does isolation build suspense?
Keep in mind point of view shots- as in isolation from a pov shot makes audience uncomfortable as isolation does in real life. Its about audience empathy- which sets up responsive feelings and emotions which then get played upon by climax.

A bit like letting someone walk around your house without knowing you're there, then jumping out. Had they known you were there the moment of surprise wouldn't have been as shocking, therefor lessening the climax.
