What is the difference between isolation and quarantine?

biologically and/or medicallyWhat is the difference between isolation and quarantine?
There are different types of isolation. Protective isolation (the patients immune system is weakened and people entering must gown, glove and mask up e.g. AIDS, Chemotherapy) or general (people gown and glove, and/or mask to prevent the spread of a disease from the patient to others e.g. TB, MRSA). This is done for the good of the patient, but is not enforced by the law.

Quarantine is legally enforced isolation, typically to contain the spread of something considered dangerous, often but not always disease. Quarantine can be brief (as in remove those contaminated clothes) or a longer term (when you bring a pet into the UK). A TB patient who refused to take treatment and was spreading resistant TB about was recently quarantined (legally isolated and held in a hospital until he was well).

Good question, btw. What is the difference between isolation and quarantine?
Isolation ,being in a room by self, their is several types of isolation, example, contact, when being in the room with a person that in in isolation, contact shouldnt be made, gloves and a gown should be worn while in room, sometimes it may require the use of a mask, reverse isolation, going ito room the use of gown ,mask and gloves, are required this is to protect the individual that is in isolation from bacteria that you might bring in like when their immune sytem is low.Quarantine ,no one enters or leaves to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.in the past whole familys could be quarintined, the reasons can be many and is mandated by law.A lot a patients in hospitols are put in isolation, they can still have family visits but their precautions set up to help the spread of what the patient might have,as mentioned protective clothing, hand washing, etc.
Isolation is an act of setting something apart from others or a feeling of being disliked and alone or state of separation between persons or groups.

Quarantine is enforced isolation of patients suffering from a contagious disease in order to prevent the spread of disease
