Isolation is when the patient is isolated from others, in a private room, and visitors are limited or not permitted at all. Visitors are expected to wear protective clothing and masks. The room normally has ';negative pressure,'; meaning that air is vented to the outside of the building VIA filters. Air from the surrounding corridors can get into the isolation room. Air from the isolation room must be vented to the outside of the building, and cannot get into the corridors or other rooms.
Reverse isolation is when there is positive pressure in the room. Filtered, clean air is brought into the room and allowed to vent out of the room to the surrounding corridors.
Isolation is when the patient can infect others. Reverse isolation is when others can infect the patient (if the patient is immuno-compromised, like with leukemia, etc).
It is common for burn patients because of the high risk of infection to the burn areas.

What are the roles of variation, reproductive isolation, and geographical isolation in speciation?
How do these things cause speciation?
This was a question on my study guide for a test about evolution that I have to take soon. I understand how reproductive isolation causes speciation, and I'm pretty sure I understand the geographical isolation, too. But by variation, I think my teacher was talking about genetic variation, and I'm not sure how that would cause different species to be formed. What are the roles of variation, reproductive isolation, and geographical isolation in speciation?
It's a key element in evolution, and comes about through modifications of an organism's DNA via radiation, chemical poisoning, or simple mischance in cell replication. The daugther organism can inherit the modified DNA, and it may - or may not - give some advantage toward survival and subsequent reproduction. What are the roles of variation, reproductive isolation, and geographical isolation in speciation?
Hi. Think variation in environment.
Existing variation is the basis by which populations adapt most quickly.
Reproductive isolation can be simple. If by variation, one subpopulation of insect does best feeding from apple trees and another off of chestnuts, they are most likely to mate with another insect from the same tree. Eventually the subpopulations may specialize on the two different trees to the extent that they become separate species. Similarly, flowers blooming early in the season are unlikely to crosspollinate with flowers that bloom late in the season. Eventually, the early flowers and the late flowers will tend towards traits that favor the average conditions when they bloom.
Geographical isolation means that evolution will take place independently. Marsupials dominated Australia. A variety of unusual creatures evolved in the Galapagos Islands. Most notably, from a single set of finches, a variety of bird species evolved to fill the available niches determined by feeding habits. The danger is that small areas have less competition and when a species is introduced from a larger, more competitive area is introduced, it may overrun the ecosystem devastating food supplies and adversely affecting every creature in the food chain above below and in its niche.

To Bulk up and gain muscle mass, should i do a mixture of compound and isolation exercises?
Im looking to bulk up and increase muscle mass over the next three months for rugby season. Ive seen and made a lot of training programs and each one has different types of exercises. THE QUESTION.. Should i do workouts with strictly compound exercises, or should i do a mixture of compound and isolation? Also should it be Full Body or Split training? CheersTo Bulk up and gain muscle mass, should i do a mixture of compound and isolation exercises?
Utilize compound movements Remember you want to increase the size of every muscle fiber in your body so that your total body mass to increases. Most trainers believe that only good form will achieve muscle separation. But take Chris Cormier's advice and allow your muscles to grow. That will give them more space for separation.
And good luck little dude in whatever advice you take .If you got time check out this website wwww.realmuscleman.info its for people who are serious. To Bulk up and gain muscle mass, should i do a mixture of compound and isolation exercises?
you should do a mixture of both compound and isolation..u should do split training so you don't overtrain.

Are there any negative affects to social isolation if the person is doing it out of preference?
For example, I used to have 0 friends from June of 2005 until May of 2006. Since May, I have aquired some, but I have realised I enjoyed my life more when I had no friends.
Has isolation affected me psychologiacaly in any way, and will returning have any effect? Are there any negative affects to social isolation if the person is doing it out of preference?
There is a proverb that says -';One who isolating himself will seek his own selfish longings against all practical wisdom he will break forth';
So I guess since that proverb remained to this day--it might have some truth to it.
Only you can truthfully answer that and you must have ';good'; reasoning power. Often one who has isolated himself has invented his own justification for everything. Which is different from others views of what is proper. Are there any negative affects to social isolation if the person is doing it out of preference?
I get along better with loners...being a loner myself...we know how to socialize without being overbearing...and when to make an exit.
I like people...but I like being alone better.
Be yourself. Yourself may adapt in time. All depends upon experience.
Some people don't need social stimulation to lead a satisfying life. Just enjoy what you are doing and stop worrying about your monthly progress through the calendar of events. I need my ';alone times'; too, and I'm totally cool with it.
If you enjoyed your life better with no friends then by no means, have no friends. Just make sure that you realize it could have been a bad choice of friends and there still could be some out there that might be worthy of your friendship.
no
The only person who you can say its okay is a person who is either meditating or is at peace with themself while enjoying their surroundings
Not necessarily. In some cases, isolation can exacerbate mental illness by detaching these people from outside reality. People who are clinically depressed or schizophrenic probably shouldn't be alone too much. However, if you are just a lone who is happy alone and able to function in your life, I'd say do what makes you happy. I know I definitely need to have me time and I don't really have a need for a large circle of friends and I think I'm doing just fine. Only you can determine what is best for you.
no
we all need friends. they upllift us and give us new ideas and just plain entertain us when we are down. it is not healthy to totally isolate yourself. you will not be challenged or stimulated. you may also have gifts you can share with others. If you prefer social isolation there is usually an underlying problem that needs resolving.
You're just that kind of person who prefers doing things and being alone. nothing wrong with it. though don't try to be ultimately isolated, or as you said will affect you psychologically. good enough, yes?

How does isolation and loneliness affect a person's mental health?
why and how so?
Thanks for your answers! How does isolation and loneliness affect a person's mental health?
You don't actually need isolation for loneliness - it's a term for the subjective feeling, though it's more common when alone.
There is no one effect of isolation - some people prefer it, some people become depressed, or anxious, or anti-social. Lonliness is almost always a negative feeling, and can lead to depression. How does isolation and loneliness affect a person's mental health?
Isolation and loneliness may not be. It depends on the individual and how they meet their circumstances. Isolation would not affect everybodys mental health on the contrary some individuals would actively seek this out re Lighthouse keepers, farmers and people living in remote islands. Aloness is not the same as loneliness. Its not what happens to you in life that matters, it how you approach it. For those who have mental health difficulties through isolation and loneliness they should seek out those who do not suffer mental health issues and learn from them. Rather than running of to see a psychiatrist or be put on medication.
I increasingly isolated myself as a teenager due to social anxiety. By the time I was 17 I had completely isolated myself.
Now at 23, I struggle with social situations, like maybe I missed out on properly developing my social skills. I have a few really close friends at work, and a couple outside of work. So basically when I am not at work, I am alone.
It gets boring and frustrating, that's about it. I can deal with people fine now, but I'm not sure how to meet people and how to break the ice in a new relationship.
I'm not depressed over it though, my self esteem is ok.
As human beings, we need interaction with others. We feel we need to talk to people, and to have physical contact with others. It makes us happier, we can get things off our chests and it brightens our day to spend time with people we care about. Deprived of social contact, we come bored and in extreme cases and individual could become depressed or introverted.
Social needs are very important to people. Almost as important, if not as important, as physical needs. It's difficult if not impossible for a person to feel satisfied with their lives without fulfilling, interpersonal relationships in them. It's just a part of who we are as humans. We're social animals. We're not like cats who can be alone all the time and be perfectly fine. Our brains are not wired up for this. Lonliness and intimacy problems are at the core of many obsessive/compulsive behaviors and addictions. And, since addictions can kill a person, especially substance abuse, lonliness can kill you.
If you're feeling good, then you're creating a future that's on track with your desire. If you're felling bad, you're creating a future that's off track with your desires. As you go about your day, the law of attraction is working in every second . Everything we think and feel is creating our future. If you're worried or in fear, then you're bringing more of that into your life throughout the day.
So try and think good thoughts please.
Everyone is different, if your someone that needs to feed off other peoples energy and be in social situations you will probably become depressed and it could lead into a range of problems, however if you like being by yourself and dont feel the need to be around others its fine if that makes you happy
As Rambling Sid Rumpo used to say, ''I think the answer lies in the individual''.
Isolation and or loneliness need not (automatically) affect a persons mental health ....in a negative way.
Some do, some don't, some will n some won't be affected.
Any answer in the negative, is going to be subjectively personal as to the How and or the Why of an experience.
However, I suggest that feelings of abandonment, uncared for, neglected, forgotten about, indifference to, unworthy of attention, betrayal are some of those things that might be at the core of an experience.
Sash.
yup, loneliness can make u depressed i think. you need to socialise, get out more, join clubs an make friends to keep you going.
Lack of social interaction, can make it harder to socialise in general later on, this can affect people mentally because they may feel angry and bitter towards other people or themselves for not having friends.
Hi, You can be in a room full of people and still be lonely. Being alone and being lonely. Some people need to be on there own sometimes others need company of others to feel safe. On the other hand a person who feels that they are lonely can become , depressed, confused and ever suicidal. We as human beings need the comfort of our fellow beings to feel safe but often this is not the case. We tend to shut ourselves away as we get older to feel safe behind a locked door. So it;s like self solitary confinement.
Hope this helps

This isn't religion, but one of the worst times a person's mind is/can be affected by satanic forces is when he/she is often isolated. Voices in the head seem louder when it's quiet and you're alone.
Downer thoughts, i.e, self-pity, bad experiences, regrets, feeling lonely and unloved, rejected, failure, etc., are inspired by Satan. He is not a man in a red suit with a forked tail, but a big liar and negative influencer.
Thoughts of life: words spoken by God, to lift a person up. As a person gives his/her heart to Jesus Christ, a new creature on the inside is formed. Then by God's word, he/she can begin to take on the mind and character of Jesus, submit to Him and resist Satan and his temptations.
This change improves one's mental health. I know. The devil (or Satan) tried to steal my sanity years ago. I asked the Lord for help, and He delivered me.cosmetics makeup

Any ways to work transverse abs withouting isolation exercises?
For some reason, transverse ab exercises feel weird to me. I don't really have to patience to pull in and hold my abs. But, this seems to be the main way suggested to tone/strengthen the transverse abs.
Anyone know of other ways to work them, maybe while doing an activity or other form of exercise, like biking?
Thanks : )Any ways to work transverse abs withouting isolation exercises?
You can work your tansverse abs with the Plank/hover or Hip flexion. If you don't want to do hip flexion as an isolated exercise do it with kness bent. These are targeted exercises and each require you to pull in and hold abs while exercising.
The main function of the abs is isometric contraction. This is how your torso is kept upright. Any exercise will help you to strengthen these core muscles and improve core stability but you do have to remember to pull in the muscles and hold as you mention. If you do not engage them they will not benefit.
Running, Biking, Skipping, Rowing........Abs will benefit if engaged during exercise.
They will also benefit if engaged during any kind of strength training but some good ones are things like single leg squats.

Overcoming Loneliness - How To Overcome Loneliness and Isolation?
I believe there are answers to overcoming loneliness. I'm just trying to find the one that works for me. Thanks for reading.Overcoming Loneliness - How To Overcome Loneliness and Isolation?
1. Love yourself first before you expect love from the world. Every relationship begins with the one you have with yourself
2. Reach out to the world... One person might be alone, but two's company. There's someone out there who needs you as much as you need him or her
3. Let go of your inhibitions, concerns and 'past experiences'. Drop all of that pain from your shoulders. Free your mind, breathe in the freedom and do something that liberates your soul
4. Understand that loneliness (like happiness) is a state of mind. You could be lonely with a dozen people around you, but might find blissful solitude with just yourself or a cherished partner
5. Get a pet, engage yourself in voluntary activities, help someone out in a small way... Take every day as it comes. Realize that you're a precious, wonderful and beautiful gem in the immense constellation of life!Overcoming Loneliness - How To Overcome Loneliness and Isolation?
well i like to be alone it brings some sanity and peace of mind but my theory of loneliness is that you were born alone, you will laugh alone, cry alone and die alone. to overcome loneliness, i think is first be happy with yourself and once others see that you are happy they will want to be around you because of your happiness so therefore you will not be alone because you will have thm around you. i hoped i answered you question
for me solitude is pure peace. you can do what ever you like when ever you like. there is no one to rattle your nerves.
going out for a diner alone is the ultimate in luxury. order what you like without any comments and enjoy eating with out constant conversation.
begin to realize that other people really do not add to a good quality of life but in many ways complicate your life.
I love having a woman in my life, but not all the time.
enjoy others company for short periods . but not need it.
change your attitude to enjoy and reflect on your own experience
I used to be lonley when I was younger %26amp; now I see I wanted to be alone cause I like my own company the best. I studied something called Science of MInd, which says we are all connected %26amp; one. Now I can see that people don't really die so I feel connected with everyone %26amp; everything in life. So I am not lonely. I also have built up a group of people who are my support group. I can call them up anytime %26amp; they give me a lift %26amp; I would do the same for them. I met them at place that studies ';science of mind'; called a religious science church it is for people of all religions or none who just believe we create our lives by the thoughts we focus on. Some people I have known wanting more connection with people %26amp; they did what it took to resolve that. You didn't mention why you were lonely but sometimes it is resovled by being with others %26amp; sometimes it is within you no matter how many people you are around. This teaching also teachs you how to change things like this. Get the book. ';you can heal your life'; by Louise Hay or call a Religious Science church %26amp; see if someone can help you. If they charge %26amp; you can't afford it let them know %26amp; they will help you. You can do this over the phone. Do an internet search.
Everyone needs something to hope, someone to love and something to live for. Find that special someone (or something) who doesn't just reflect you but also extends you in some emotional way. Look for fulfillment in that one person or thing, and your world will begin to grow.
It's been said that to befriend oneself means to never be lonely.
I say, find an identity. That is, find something that isn't a human that brings genuine joy into your life.
We as humans need people, but are sometimes in bad social situations. I am sorry.
go places where people are. Be outgoing even if you dont feel like it. Start up a conversation with a random person, who knows maybe you two could be friends! and if not, try someone else. Getting a pet might help you not feel so alone as well.
The only cure for that is to get out, get involved, meet people. Try to be open to new friendships. Be the one to make the first call, organize events.
Do volunteer work, clubs, organizations, telethons, marathons, libraries, etc. You need to get out ,meet people and network. Good Luck!
I would not know. I am lonely and isolated as well. To be honest I dont really know if there is a cure at all. All I do is write and sometimes that helps!

I would not know. I am lonely and isolated as well. To be honest I dont really know if there is a cure at all. All I do is write and sometimes that helps!

Can social isolation and having know one to Communicate and make laugh and feel?
secure really damage use what ever age we are and if people know some suffering from this why do people around them not do something about itCan social isolation and having know one to Communicate and make laugh and feel?
Being rejected can completely be dangerous to a person's all around well being, both short %26amp; long term, since humans are supposed to be a social species. The failure for someone to connect with anyone of value, can mean lost opportunities, inability to have relationships of any kind, not having even ugly chics want to have anything to do with U;etc! Can social isolation and having know one to Communicate and make laugh and feel?
I think it can damage people, because it merely adds to their already low self esteem and sense of failure and lack of secure identity. Secure identity, I believe, is developed though interaction with all sorts of people.
I find it difficult to befriend people such as you describe. They look away, they make me feel unwelcome. Being a sensitive person, I take this to mean, Not Interested' when it really means, I am shy. But it is offputting and difficult to then proceed.
And also if the person is isolated, we usually do not see them. I tend to assume they want to be that way.
I think I understand the question. I think social isolation, and lack of human contact causes serious, un-repairable damage to people. I know this because I spent most of my young life in isolation (for reasons I'm unable to divulge).
Until I was freed and went into college did I realize I was emotionally and socially handicapped. To this day, in my mid 30's, I have trouble opening up. I can't make new friends, and I spend most days interacting with no-one unless I have to. And for some reason I (unknowingly) project a message that signals others to leave me alone.
I'll give you a good example of what I'm talking about. I started with a new company 6 months ago. There are at least two hundred people in my office, and I sit next to the main entrance. People say hi to me as they walk by, but they never stop to chat, or invite me out to lunch. Even the people who work right next to me, in my same department don't include me in their activities. They will order take out for me when they do, but when the food comes, they all head out to the lunch room and don't invite me with them. I don't know why, but there is something about me that has always forced me to be the outsider, the misfit. I have tried being more outgoing, but it gets me nowhere. Counseling and medication has not helped me progress at all. It's like I'm the outcast, the leper, the man in the bubble, and I can't get out.
But I got off easy, because a friend of mine who experienced the same thing now only sits in his parents basement (he is 36), watches TV and uses the computer. He doesn't have ANY social contact, because he CAN'T. It's too painful.
It's not the way I want it to be, it's just the way it is.
Uh. I *think* this is what you're getting at:
';Does isolation have any negative effects, and why don't people help those who are isolated?';
If that's the case, let me explain.
I knew a kid in high school who was very shy and would only talk to me and one other person. I tried constantly to bring him out of his shell and would invite him places where my friends were, but he would never leave his house. I even tried setting him up with girls. I honestly can say I tried my best to help this kid but all he would ever do was complain about his life and never fix anything. Apparently he was beyond my help. People need to want to change.
Social isolation can completely destroy some people, people who are vulnerable to things like depression and suicide, people who are isolated socially can feel worthless and like they have no purpose in life.

Is isolation the best environment to bring out creativity?
what do you think?
b/c a lot of great writers were isolated an they ended up writing the strories they did.Is isolation the best environment to bring out creativity?
A lot of great authors/poets/artists also suffered/suffer from depression. It's because of all of the tragedies that went/go on in their lives. They both mentally wounded/wound them, and spouted/spout creativity.
The road to visual and literary artdome is a sad one, one filled with isolation and sorrow. Not that isolation is always a bad thing- it may be filled with wisdom and self-discovery, if you let it be.
That doesn't mean that you can't get inspired while surrounded by people. I get my best ideas for poetry in public, for example, not in private.
Different people get their creativity from different things. Isolation doesn't work for everyone. Is isolation the best environment to bring out creativity?
I believe being around people is the best way to bring out creativity. All those book writers who became famous were good at it because they once were around busy/filled environments full of creative items. Or they have at LEAST seen them through their bedroom window or on their T.V. screen. Hence they got a bigger perspective on what people are interested in and they can be more creative themselves.
So, in my opinion about your question, I would say no; isolation isn't the best environment to bring out creativity.
Thank you and I hope this fulfills your wanted answer. -Paige
I don't think being isolated is necessary... but I do think that you have to set a time every day when you will work on your creative project.
I's not isolation, it's determination that will make the difference. But you must remove yourself from things that allow you to dawdle and ';waste'; time, such as Yahoo answers!
It depends on how you isolate yourself- around four walls, or out there, with hundreds of strangers passing you by every minute. Snippets of conversation, smells, tall buildings, and blue skies. You have to watch, watch everyone. And if no one watches you, you are invisible.
I isolate myself like this all the time. And the ideas flow out like water, and onto paper.
tehy were alone so they invented a time adn space to occupy their time adn a great story came...
i love to be around people, they are inspiring for me.. to see alll of the dfferences together
I doubt that thats really a consistant thing with all greats, though. I'm sure there are just as many writers that prefer the opposite of what Nathaniel Hawthorne did.
Personally I prefer to be around new exciting environments to spark creativity.

How do you get through to someone who trusts no one and loves isolation?
with a lot of work ,and only if the person wants to change or your doom to failure, there is no one sentence answerHow do you get through to someone who trusts no one and loves isolation?
by all means do not challenge them. Learn there philosophy, learn the why of their situation. then ask them for advice on someone just like them with out them realizing. When their advice contradicts what they are doing, hopefully they will get it. but don't pounce this contradiction on them, they may just shut down on you. Just leave it in the air, in time they will see it if along with this you offer love that they can trust.
But really I think people shut down like this for emotional reasons. Something is wrong in their hearts and they have shut down. There is a reality they don't want to face so they have let it go. Like a crab lets go of a leg when you grab it. I would find out what they are comfortable with and join them at that. but here and there I would add a little something to the routine. For example if all they do is stay in the house but go for icecream once a week. Well then I would join them for ice cream a couple of times and then on one of the times I would do icecream and ask if we could stop at the video store to get a video. Hence taking them into the real world with out them realizing they are doing so.
Red light green light 123 is a game for the children but it's really about learning to follow orders and conform to society. But the children don't know they are learning, to them they are just having fun and as you teach them, they think you are cool because you are doing a good job of fooling them. You have to accomplish something like this but speak of it with no one because it could be construed as deameaning very easily while your intention is love.
And when ever you can, add more and more to the routine until one day he does it all with out you. running 4 miles a day could reallly help with this because running reduces fear, and isolation is all about fear. good luckHow do you get through to someone who trusts no one and loves isolation?
Well, if you really like this person and have no ulterior motives...go slow and easy. Let them have their space, but always leave the door open with invites to do something or occasional texts or notes.

What impurities can get co-precipitated with cold ethanol during plant DNA isolation?
while precipitating my plant DNA with cold ethanol the pellet did not form even after centrifuging it thrice at 10000 rpm for 10 minutes each, and a jelly like mass appeared instead. What it could be?What impurities can get co-precipitated with cold ethanol during plant DNA isolation?
DNA when it is pure is clear so there may be a pellet and you are not seeing it. Salts or other impurities may precipitate along with the DNA. This could be what you're seeing. Or, maybe you just didn't have much DNA to begin with.cosmetics makeup

Drumming with headphones using an MP3 player jack. Any shop that sells isolation hphones in the Philippines?
I've been drumming with a set of headphones, but i have to turn the sound up louder than i really should. I'm looking for a pair of headphones that I can play with while muffling the sound of the drumming, but at the same time keep the music I'm playing to at a tolerable level. I would rather have suggestions on shops in the Philippines, if that's possible. Thanks :)Drumming with headphones using an MP3 player jack. Any shop that sells isolation hphones in the Philippines?
Try sound cancelling headphones. You should be able to get them in good electronic stores but they're pretty pricey. I'm not sure if you can control the level of cancelling though. Normally the only thing you can hear when you use them is the music and pretty much that's it.
Otherwise get drum kit sound mufflers so the kit is less loud, except then you won't get proper sound.

Can I use a car alternator's stator as an isolation transformer for 110AC?
No - the separate windings don't intertwine in the way an isolation transformer requires and I would bet the insulation breaks down well short of the 160 volt (roughly) peak of 120 RMS AC voltage. Can I use a car alternator's stator as an isolation transformer for 110AC?

Is globalisation a source of disconnection, racial tension, overcompetition and isolation from world problems?
Each of those concepts characterizes exactly what globalization is ultimately designed to eliminate. Presently, groups of people (either ethnically, politically, or economically defined) appear to be working together in an effort to differentiate themselves in relation to others (groups). This effort is in actuality a result of the movement toward a merger of all groups but in its expression is projecting an opposite set of images. Although in the United States individuals profess that class and status differences do not exist, nothing could be further from the truth, e.g., look at the ethnic composition of any major holiday parade formation (the older, more established ethnic groups always occupy the most prestigious positions in the ';marching order'; as does the prominent civic leadership). When small groups attempt to isolate themselves from others, the result is that such individuals discover that they have a considerable amount in common with each of the other groups. Basically, such is a result of trade relationships as individuals must trade (compete) with others because of the unequal distribution of resources. Competition, which does not exist in isolation, provides each group with an idea of how each other group functions in certain circumstances and under various conditions. Knowledge of the ';same'; differences among people, is the easiest way to bring such separate groups together. Furthermore, although racial remarks are hateful and harmful, the laws that have been created assist in the mollification of the violence which so often accompanied such behaviour previously. Now, rather than seeking retribution through physical acts of violence for such slights, the courts act to level the playing field for the discriminated party and recompense his loss. Although not always successful, members of individual societies may seek compensation for damages on the local, state, national, and international levels. Access to such litigious action allows for the amelioration of hostilities and the opening of discussions and the furtherance of (trade) relationships. Once accomplished, the imaginary disconnection between and among groups and societies along with any perceived differences based upon ethnic origin may be overcome. All this occurs as a result of the need for the exchange of goods and services and the competition involved therein. And, as mentioned above, trade does not occur in a vacuum. Is globalisation a source of disconnection, racial tension, overcompetition and isolation from world problems?
to some extent....YES!

Do you know anything about the Arctic research done on isolation?
It was conducted on behavior in isolation in order for NASA to have a better understanding of potential behavioral problems an astronaut might exhibit in long-term flight due to isolation. Also, in this study, one of the astronauts went crazy and attacked someone. Have you heard of this before, and if so do you know where I can find information on this study?Do you know anything about the Arctic research done on isolation?

Why are cells incubated in a water bath during DNA isolation?
I'm doing a Bio lab and I'm frustrated...I'm assuming it's for cell lysis but why? And why would we incubate the cells ate 56 degrees C for 30 minutes and then 70 degress C for 10 minutes?
HELP!! :) thanks!
Why are cells incubated in a water bath during DNA isolation?
looking at those temeratures you are doing PCR yeah?
the 70 degrees is to denature the DNA. this makes it single stranded instead of the usual double strand. the 56 degrees is for the polymerase to be working at its optimum environment and therefore work best.
the reason it is so much higher than a normal bacterias optimum temp is because it is a polymerase from thermophilus aquatis (taq). this is used because it is a extremophillic bacteria found around underwater vents which are very hot.
it is used so the polymerase itself is not denatured when the DNA is at 70 degrees.

Do Atheists constantly suffer from accute self pity and isolation?
How common is this?Do Atheists constantly suffer from accute self pity and isolation?
I have no clue I think so. Atheist's must have miserable lives i supposeDo Atheists constantly suffer from accute self pity and isolation?
Why would you draw a connection between atheism and self pity and isolation, at least in most of the Western world? In many cultures, religion is sociogenic, a significant way of defining ';who i am,'; individually and as part of the culture. In any part of the world where a particular religion predominates and it is sociogenic for its participants, any deviation from the norm will probably result in some kind of isolation for the social deviant, be that person atheist or of some other belief.
But social isolation can result from any kind of deviation from some strong sociogenic attribute. For example, in a vegetarian community, a carnivore would probably experience some form of social isolation.
And in a community of atheists, it would probably be the believer, any believer, who would feel isolated.
Birds of a feather stick together. The odd-man-out will probably always feel alone in some way. It's just human nature for people to coalesce around what is significant for them.
Hi .
Actually you are right.Their answers prove it over and over.
They act like an adolescents and double talk with their answers.
I have had some that can carry a good conversation.
Studies have been conducted that show Atheists can be demoralizing,Angry, and selfish.
One of these studies have been produced at Yale University in Connecticut.
What is funny is that they seem to think no one can go back for the last 6 months and make percentage study of all their previous answers and statements.
Guess what?............92 % respond as if they suffer from accute self pity and isolation.
Not the ones I know, and I certainly don't. Self pity never helped anyone accomplish anything.
And I may be bitter and antisocial, but I'm certainly not isolated.
About as common as any other person.
I can't speak for all atheists, but I lack self-pity because I'm confident and have acquired self-esteem. As well, I spend a lot of time with family and friends.
Only if you will admit that religious peoples suffer from mental delusions for the explict purpose of gaining ATTENTION from an otherwise unproductive, unimportant, unrecognized existence..........
I think more of them suffer from AITS (Acute Internet Troll Syndrome.)
Not just the Atheists. I see this a lot. Self pity is rather unattractive.
I hate when people always play the victim. What drama.
Uncommon, apparently you are projecting.
You know as well as I that it is the Christian who condemns his humanity not the Atheist.

Years ago, when studying G.E, my lecturer told me that when he studied it while he was at uni, he found a news article in the paper about Asian refugees who travelled by ship, crammed together in a box in the cargo hold ~ the headline of the article was: ';Crate irks packed Asians.'; (If you say it quickly, phonetically it sounds a lot like Great Expectations!) Sorry, I guess this doesn't help you though, it's just a funny story from my past. (No offence to any Asian people here by the way.)

In construction and engineering: How does a ';Base Isolation'; foundation work?
NO, no, no, no, no.
Base isolation - the base slides as the ground moves underneath it, reducing the forces and acceleration transmitted to the building, letting the whole building ';skate'; as the earth slides back and forth beneath it.
http://nisee.berkeley.edu/lessons/kelly.鈥?/a>In construction and engineering: How does a ';Base Isolation'; foundation work?
Foundation achorage keeps a structure and its base moving as a unit when the ground begins to quake.
Base isolation allows a structure's foundation and the ground to move as one, minimizing the forces on the building itself.
Pile foundations reach down through unstable soil to the bedrock beneath for added stability.
EDIT:
No wonder! We've been using an outdated book! It's the older edition! The new edition explains it MORE accurately!

Why is the isolation of pure bacterial cultures important?
It's important for many reasons. Mostly because for confirmation that you do have a pure culture and that your culture is not contaminated. You can use your pure culture for control purposes and/or standards. There's many reasons. You get a pure culture , so you know exactly what you got.
Does prolonged social isolation cause more social desire or less?
If a loner (by nature) leads a solitary life for many years - would this cause that person to desire people more, or less over time?Does prolonged social isolation cause more social desire or less?
I am close to this situation myself. I find that I am neutral. That is, I don't crave human contact any more or any less given the isolation. I prefer being alone, but not socializing for a while does not make me miss people more, and socializing actively for a couple days does not make me prefer isolation any less. A big part of this is that I have overcome the negative physiological response to the hormones that our bodies produce as a response to isolation and embarassment. As a result I don't fear society and don't flinch upon hearing the opinions of sheep who question my choices in life.Does prolonged social isolation cause more social desire or less?
That depends on the person. Some will desire it more, some less. Are you talking about yourself?cosmetics makeup

What can a person do to end his isolation ?
If a loner is isolated not out of his choice .Whate can he do to end the isolation ?I mean what would normal people do? where would they go ? what would they do ?Whats a loner to do if nobody wants them ?What can a person do to end his isolation ?
Being a loner IS a choice unless you are being locked up against your will.
Unless you are a captive somewhere, make the choice not to be a loner. Lots of neutral places to start - the mall, a coffee shop, an internet cafe, a bingo parlour, a park to name a few. You can talk to the person next to you about non important stuff like the weather, the sad fact that my HABs got played out of the playoffs :o), how unfortunate it is that the lady across from you got down to 1 number at bingo - anything that isn't religion or politics (Unless you are in the appropriate place for such conversations) should work.
How do you know that no one wants you if you don't know anyone. Friendships and/or relationships do not happen overnight so you have to work at it until it becomes so 'old hat' that you can mingle comfortably.
If you are in a prison of the Sing Sing variety - they have libraries and I would think that making friends with the Books of Knowledge in a place like Sing Sing is not the worst choice a person could make. What can a person do to end his isolation ?
You are right about being isolated for shallow reasons. Silly people! Look what they are losing out on! Better to have 1 good friend than 1000 fair weather friends. I鈥檓 semi-isolated - very uncomfortable in groups.
You really have to like yourself first - everyone else after. Report Abuse

Everyone is lonely, until they find their counterpart male/female. Love is the only cure, and I mean unveiled and non-judgmental love. Loneliness is universal. As for being a loner in general, just try to join more activities in school or in your community, you will always meet people there.

Is isolation the reason Africa civilizations were not long lasting?
if not, what do you think was the reason? Is isolation the reason Africa civilizations were not long lasting?
I am not sure about your question because Africa is really big with many distinct groups of people. Egyptians were around for a relatively long time. They did build the pyramids, huge temple, and cities, and that did not happen over night. I am pretty sure that they traded very regularly with countries all over the Mediterranean, so I don;t believe that isolation was a problem for them.
Countless African tribes could probably trace their lineage to the beginning of human history, but there is no way to prove that since they do not keep written histories or have any way to keep records.
I think that many of the culture's that have been driven out, died out, or been killed off could probably be attributed to exploitation by more ';advanced'; civilizations across the world. Africa is incredibly rich in resources, and Africans continue to be exploited by both foreigners and sometime their own countrymen.
I don't know if that really helps, but the question is really broad, and I am sure that at least one group of people in Africa may have been impacted by the effects of isolation.
There have been many civilizations in Africa though, and I know that at least a couple of them were not short lived compared to groups elsewhere in the world. Is isolation the reason Africa civilizations were not long lasting?
i would disagree because if you took the greek city-states, they were basically isolated from each other in the sense that each city-state had their own way of governing themselves and their societies were much different from another. In sparta your profession was a soldier ( if you were a male citizen), athens was home to democracy (although a limited form), where other places were an oligarchy or totalitarian
but that's not true! Better do some online research, try typing in African civilizations and see what you get, besides being quite surprised with what you learn ... good luck

How can you overcome a fear of rejection, a fear of perpetual isolation?
same answer as the other question...live in the moment...
fear, doubt, confussion worry etc..comes from thinking about the past or the future..to be in the moment is very empowering...many times you will find all the answers during such an experience...the more you can do it the more reality you will experience...a few moments of these experiences can lead to hours of thought provoking understanding...the simplest things can trigger these experiences...like a bird or the stars of a breeze...infact its more of a realization of the moment...How can you overcome a fear of rejection, a fear of perpetual isolation?
If the grass is always greener on the other side, i'm on the side with the fewest people.

Can someone help me find scarlet letter quotes that relate to the isolation theme?
For class I have to write a full page discussion about themes from scarlet letter. The theme I'm using is 'isolation' and how each characters feel isolated one way or another throughout the novel.
So can someone please help me find quotes to back up this theme? For ex, quotes about how lonely and isolated it feels to be on the scaffold, or in hesters cottage, or in the forestCan someone help me find scarlet letter quotes that relate to the isolation theme?
Here's a page on it from Shmoop.

i need three.

Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
Theme of Isolation
Of Mice and Men thrives on the notion that everyone is isolated, and everyone seems to get along quite well together by talking about how isolated they are. Isolation in this novella is much more an abstract concept than a reality 鈥?the men are constantly together and chatting. It鈥檚 the specter of having to move, to hit the open road again, make new friends, new enemies, and keep finding yourself all over again that seems to plague the men. These transitions (and having to go at them alone, by nature of the transient migrant worker lifestyle) are enough to make a guy feel isolated, even when he鈥檚 surrounded by people.
http://www.shmoop.com/of-mice-and-men/is鈥?/a>
Theme of Women and Femininity
Of Mice and Men is set in a male environment where there are three types of women: the imagined nice girl for settling down, the prostitutes for a drink and a trick, and Curley鈥檚 wife, who is their daily representation of what to expect from the other sex. Women are a kind of absent symbol, only there to highlight the men鈥檚 failings: the men of the ranch can鈥檛 settle down, so they go to whorehouses. As the ';girl next door'; type is only a fantasy, the men basically reduce the women around them to sex. As George states, at least with prostitutes, ';you pay for what you get.'; While Curley鈥檚 wife is a sexual object, she can鈥檛 actually provide any sex (because she鈥檚 taken) 鈥?all she can really offer is trouble.

THEMES
Major Theme
The major theme of Of Mice and Men, is that a dream, no matter how impossible to obtain, can forge friendship and give meaning to life. George and Lennie dream of owning a little farm of ten acres, with a windmill, a little shack, an orchard, and animals. The dream keeps them going and lightens the load of their work. It also solidifies their friendship.
Minor Themes
One of the minor themes is the tragedy of mental retardation. Lennie never intends to harm anything, neither the puppy nor Curley鈥檚 wife. He is simply too slow to realize his own strength. His retardation is the cause of his downfall and death, in spite of George鈥檚 trying to help him stay out of trouble.
The pain of loneliness is another theme of the book. All the main characters, including George, Lennie, Candy, Crooks, Curley鈥檚 wife, and Slim, express the sadness caused by their feelings of loneliness. The craving for company and the longing for sharing real emotions make these characters very human.

Are condos or apartments good for people who are lonely or do they tend to cause more isolation?
Well I live at home right now and if I do go live on my own I am wondering which would be better: living in an apartment complex or in a subdivsion. Are condos or apartments good for people who are lonely or do they tend to cause more isolation?
No no they are excellent for those people you are forced to interact with people. Neighbors, landlords....Are condos or apartments good for people who are lonely or do they tend to cause more isolation?
doesn't matter. if you are not looking for interaction with others you will be isolated either way. speaking from experience.
Apartment are the ultimate isolation for those who don't go looking for company

Best Bahamian Island for isolation and reefs?
I have been going to Eleu for years and want to try somewhere new. All i do is spearfish and explore. What other out islands would match or be better than Eleu for isolation, exploration, and reefs? Where I can run wild, buck naked, all week eating fresh conch, grouper, and crawfish right on the beach and not see another soul?Best Bahamian Island for isolation and reefs?
I would say Samana Cay. It's deserted, has no airport and the only way to get there is by boat, and is believed to be the island the Christopher Columbus first sighted on October 12, 1492.

Were Africans purebreads in terms of genetics due to geographic isolation?
Please I do not mean to make any form of a racist remark but historically were they pure breads without and genetic variety. Today all humans are pretty much the same as we are all a mix of different races and as time goes on this will become even more true. Kinda like a 100% navajo indian you hear many people say they are 30% Cherokee or whatever what about africans? Can anyone say they are 100% african anymore? Were Africans purebreads in terms of genetics due to geographic isolation?
Most definitely possible. There are still very strict marriage patterns within the more tribal regions of Africa that do not allow (or atleast strictly discourage/ban/outlaw) social events to occur such as marriage/sex.
During the beginning of man, surely everyone was ';purebred'; simply because travel between many regions were not possible. Nowadays, traveling is made a lot easier with modern vehiciles.. but I would venture to say that there are still some people in Africa that have ventured outside of their clans/families/groups/etc.
I mean.. it's possible, right? Were Africans purebreads in terms of genetics due to geographic isolation?
Africa has always had a great deal of variation All the people that left Africa are likely descended from a small population of about 200 people. They seem to have left in a single group about 70,000 years ago. All the other races descend from that small population. Africans still have more genetic diversity than the other races. They are also probably the least isolated group.
There are probably a lot of African mixes (Ethiopian Gambian Kenyan for example), I don' know if you'd count that as unmixed because they're still pure African.
But I'm sure that there are some people that aren't mixed with other African countries either; there are so many African people, there have to be at least a couple of ';purebreds';.
Africans actually have a lot of genetic variation. Africans from Ghana look notably distinguishable from Africans from let's say Kenya or Cameroon. There is no such thing as being 100% anything. All races share genetic similarities. Just like Europe has variation between different peoples, so does Asia and Africa.
Good question. I've never really thought of that. Your probably right. I don't think anyone can say they're ';purebred'; anymore...
Generally, yes.
But the only flaw in this reasoning, is that in fact, the African population has the most genetic varieties in the world. In fact, anyone not originally from Africa is more likely to have a very similar genetic make-up, different from all the various African genetic make-ups.
This is because of the isolation of the continent and the fact that only a handful of people could emigrate and survive to go forth an populate the rest of the world.
So even if anyone says they are 100% African, they probably are, but that doesn't mean that they are genetically similar to all the other 100% African people they share their continent with.

What are the positives of silence, solitary confinement, and isolation?
No one is there to distract you, you can concentrate on the things that need to be done..
Of course there are the negative effects but I'm sure you know them already.
Positives:
You'll be able to get things done.
You won't have to worry about anyone but yourself.
You really can't get hurt.
No one is there to make fun of you.
Won't have friends borrowing your DVD's and never returning them.

What causeed japans isolation and how has it been important in the country's history ?
what is the name of the code that a samuri followed that demanded you be?
LOYAL to your diamyo wat is it ?What causeed japans isolation and how has it been important in the country's history ?
I love answering this question, especially since it is really misunderstood. The period of ';isolation'; is generally referred to in Japanese as sankoku or ';closed country.'; This period spanned most of the Tokugawa or Edo Period (1600-1867). After the battle of sekigahara in 1600 Tokugawa Ieyasu was able to bring Japan under his control. The Japanese had been engaged to this point in trade largely with the Portuguese, where silver was largely exported for Chinese silk and other commodities.
From 1600-1640 both the English and Dutch arrive to try to set up trade negations with Japan similar to Portugal. The Spanish also arrive, but their legacy is less remembered. The English only exist for a period of 10 years and in 1639 the Portuguese are basically expelled as well. The Dutch were moved from their factory, basically a warehouse, to a small man made islands in Nagasaki harbor call Deshima.
The expulsion of the Portuguese and the call for closed country was basically a way for the Tokugawa government to control what was happening in the country. Jesuits brought by the Portuguese were busy converting people and a Christian rebellion in 1639 forced Tokugawa Iemitsu, grandson of Ieyasu, to expel all Christians and with them the Portuguese. The Dutch stayed as they did not see religious conversion as part of their missions, unlike the Catholic Portuguese.
However, Japan is only in reality isolated to the Western world. During this time there is a huge influx of Confucian scholars from China lecturing on the significance of the Confucian order. A large number of Koreans immigrate to Japan and develop a local porcelain industry. This argument is better made and clearer in Ronald Toby's book State and Diplomacy in Early Modern Japan.
This is an important part of the history as Japan is able to keep a high level of physical well-being equal or better then that of the West, which helps to prepare them for the technological advances they will import after Japan is open in the Meiji period.
The name of the code you want is probably Bushido, but that term is not really use commonly till the early 1900's.
Previous to the Tokugawa period samurai were like any other warriors and sometime not as ';honorable'; as we think they are. This notion of ';honor'; and refinement only develops in the Tokugawa when you have a bunch of warriors who have no war to fight.
I hope this helps!!!cosmetics makeup

What effects do isolation have on humans?
like if they were isolated for three whole years, what would they be like? What effects do isolation have on humans?
Turn on your tv and watch prison shows were people are left in solitary confinement. What effects do isolation have on humans?
There was this study I recall reading about isolating a girl completely from social interactions.. the results were insane.
I can't find the link to the study right now, but off hand I recall there was things like she behaved like a wild feral animal. She was fed through a small door flap.
Feces everywhere in the room, tore things up, did not know how to manage her temper and behavior. There was no such thing as organization, social etiquette, and a lot more other things I can't remember.
Basically picture capturing a wild caveman and locking him up in an isolated cell.
in early years isolation can even cause kids to lose the ability to speak, learn to read and properly comunicate with people.. it can cause depression, anxiety, in severe cases isolation can cause bodily mutilation to deal with being alone.. as ';stress management'; some people have been know to create their own language being apart from society. Now days all these experiments that went on in the 70's are no longer practiced but have given some major insight into human behavior and primal instincts
I'd think the person's social and verbal skills would be highly rusty. However, this is really hazardous for really young children (1-5 yrs) because they are just developing their language skills.
One child development class of mine told a story of a small child who was raised by really neglectful parents. She was not able to use any verbal skills (which is rare I admit). As she grew up, she reached a plateau in learning; no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get past a certain speaking and understanding level.
id be surprised if they made it that long without offing themselves. My campus is dead on the weekends and if i stay i literally go insane and get depressed cry , rant, rave the whole nine yards cause im already not very social as it is and then its like BAM you ALL alone now...
so i have to have my mom pick me up which being home isnt that great either because of its own chaos but its better than isolation
You become socially impotent, dislike crowds and people. you defiantly have a lot of time to think about things, which usually leads to self dislike. Ultimately leading to a miserable, dark, and sick life. Of course this all depends on the person and his or her characteristics. Humans need other humans just as much as they need air or food.
well it would have some affect for some and no affect for others
some people right now are isolated with farms out in the country
but it would affect most people because we like to be social
look we have large cities we flock to right now with big populations its just the way we are...there not a bunch of little cities we have multiple giant cities we arent evenly dispersed we group together
It depends. One asian guy was left in a cave for years and years and he came out like a martial arts grand master that teaches his own style of martial arts. Pretty badass.
On a normal human being, they'd probably go delerious.
I watched a show on that, they were in for 48 hours and they like, went crazy. They would rock back and forth and get really mad and aggervated.
It was scary...
Too sum it up in my words
-Scared
-Nervous around others
-Poor social skills
-Probably talk to themselves or imaginary people- Possibly.
-Dependant upon themselves
-Possible Unwillingness to adapt to being with others
-Depressed
I think it varies with each person really. One could be extremely scared, quiet and depressed, whilst someone else could develop anger problems and hate.

Some stuff there :)
They would probably go completely insane, I know I would. Or when they actually are around people again they would be really scared.
they would talk to themselves, be depressed, and in some cases forget how to communicate with others.
Maybe develop multiple personalities.
Lose most of their social skills.
A combination of depression %26amp; insanity.
very depressed very afraid of everything and completly anti social
they would be quite and maybe shocked when someone talks to them and I know because I don't reallly talk to anyone at home
wach Castaway tom hankes started talking to a vollie ball named willson
depression and they'd probably develop speech problems
Ask a hermit!!!
out of the loop.... probly very quiet and shy....

What are the psychological effects of prolonged isolation on a human being?
Extreme loneliness, insanity, social anxiety and/or social phobia(a bit worse than social anxiety), depression(psychological/mental disease).
Symptoms of Depression: Loss of interest in activities that a person used to enjoy, start crying easily, isolation, despair, feeling hopeless, have suicidal thoughts/tendencies.What are the psychological effects of prolonged isolation on a human being?
Hi!
This is called sensory deprivation. It can trigger all sorts of different effects on the brain as it is unable to cope with complete isolation. Weird things can happen. People hear music, hallucinate, experience personality changes and all kinds of weird and strange stuff. See this article:

I hope this helps! What are the psychological effects of prolonged isolation on a human being?
I worked as a night auditor for ten years. I began to feel depressed, out of touch, unable to socialize, afraid to try. I let my friends slip away. I let my health go down, my weight go up. I became irritible and had difficulty sleeping.
And that's simply me working in a hotel office all night. I didn't have much contact with people, but I did have some.
Imagine how pronounced these effects would have been had I been TOTALLY isolated.
Depression, delusions, loss of personality, hopelessless, anxiety, etc.
All kinds of fun stuff.

Why is isolation and identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis so difficult? ?
I looked for this in my micro book but I can't find anything about it. It just says that it is gram positive and tells about the PPD test. I also looked for this on the internet but can't really find what I need. Why is isolation and identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis so difficult? ?
they are extremely hard to isolate and grow (fours weeks on an agar plate) which makes the use of diagnostic test almost impossible. here is a paper that may help.

Meaning of isolation as it pertains to evolution?
What is the meaning of isolation as it pertains to evolution? And what is one example?Meaning of isolation as it pertains to evolution?
';Isolated'; in that context means genetically isolated - as in not successfully interbreeding. If two populations are isolated from each other, then mutations that become common in one population won't get passed to the other. So each population will evolve in a different direction, and the two may eventually become separate species (if they weren't already). Genetic isolation is required for speciation.Meaning of isolation as it pertains to evolution?
Building on Cirbryn's good answer, there are many examples. My favorite are the scores of species of flightless birds that inhabit (or once inhabited) the Pacific islands. The species were different from each other, and there were often many species on one island filling different ecological niches. But they all started with flying birds that settled on the islands, found them predator-free, and gradually lost the need for flight. The same species of flighted bird could result in different species on different islands.
Of course people hunted the larger flightless birds to extinction, and then introduced rats and mongooses to many of the islands which drove most smaller flightless birds to extinction. So we can't determine the full genetic lineage for many species.

How does China's long history of isolation affect?
its relationship to the world today? I'm not seeking homework help; I'm 60 years old and want answers to a question I've been thinking about. How does China's long history of isolation affect?
Throughout history and in every part of the world, a community of people who have isolated themselves from the rest of the world will lag behind.
From the point of view of technology, the more people there are thinking and working on science and exchanging ideas, the better. Think about why the industrial age did not happen in China but did spread throughout Europe once the word got out. Although ancient China was very advanced (crossbow, gunpowder, compass, stirrup) simply missing out or not discovering some crucial ideas (steam power, electricity) was enough to change the course of history.
From the point of view of wealth, the more trade and opportunity to specialize there is, the better. Think about indigenous peoples on islands.
From the point of view of defence, the more enemies and threats you have, the better. Think about Carthage and what happened to Rome after it was destroyed. How does China's long history of isolation affect?
I recommend a book to you: The Sextants of Beijing (subtitle) Global Currents in Chinese History by Joanna Waley-Cohen.
It gets good reviews by Jonathan Spence and Nicholas Kristof.
The author is/was a prof. of history at NY Univ.
It directly contradicts the assumption in your question that China WAS cut off from the rest of the world.
Their is a fear of outsiders, and also misunderstanding. Look what is going on with the Olympics this is a chance for China to shine, but they are worried about the pollution and what is going on with Tibet. Yes their isolation has effected them. Look how much they have spent on defense.

What will be the positive/negative impact of the end of India's Nuclear isolation from a Global Point of View?
India has already signed a nuclear deal with France and U.S.and will soon sign a similar deal with Russia. This has effectively ended India's nuclear isolation of 34 years. Now India can easily import nuclear fuel from other countries in the world. Also India's civilian nuclear reactors will come under IAEA's scanner. However India has been assured that it's military reactors will be excluded. So what will be the impact of this venture from a global point of view? What will be the positive/negative impact of the end of India's Nuclear isolation from a Global Point of View?

What is an example of gametic isolation?
finch tends to select mate whose beak is same size as his own.
sperm of one fish can't penetrate eggs belonging to another species.
wide river separates the territories of two species of squirrels.
mating song of one robin doesn't attract members of another species. What is an example of gametic isolation?
B. Gametic isolation is illustrated by the sperm of one fish not penetrating the eggs of another. Eggs and sperms are gametes. They are isolated from each other because one won't work with another.

Whats the best noise isolation headphones that i can buy to avoid any ear damage from jet plane noise?
hi .my job is a plane valet and im dealing everyday with airplane noise. And im looking to find good noise isolation headphones to avoid any possible ear damage from the plane noise.as im working on the outside of the airport. Please help me.Thanx.Whats the best noise isolation headphones that i can buy to avoid any ear damage from jet plane noise?
When I did line work I stuck with a set of earplugs on a band that holds them tight in your ear. They didn't work amazingly well, but they were the easier to use than standard ear plugs, and not as bulky as headphones.
if I knew I'd be out for extended time, or if something particurally loud was coming in (GII and GIII's are ungodly loud) I'd take a set of headphones. I found inexpensive headsets to be enough protection.
I would not recommend any consumer anr headsets. First off, they are expensive and they will get trashed out. Secondly, they are ment to reduce low level noise, they do their job well but they aren't made to work well standing in front of a jet. You could go with some aviation headsets, they will work but you'll pay $500-$1000 for them.
Get a set of comfortable headphones and don't worry about it. If you're working at a commercial airport, those jets aren't all that loud and earplugs or headphones will do just fine.Whats the best noise isolation headphones that i can buy to avoid any ear damage from jet plane noise?
5 Stars !!!!!!!!!!! Report Abuse
I recommend that you just use standard ear plugs. Anything that is really great at keeping out sound, or worse yet using ANR to cancel the sound can get you killed.
You need to know where the dangers are, and your ears should be a great source of information.
Frankly, I'm surprised that your employer/airport will allow any ANR technology on the ramp.
Just buy a crappy cheap set...and turn the MUSIC up...

How did the japanese isolation from the west change its society, lifestyle, culture, economy..What else did it?
effect? Anything you can type about japan's isolation from the west will be helpful. Thank you.How did the japanese isolation from the west change its society, lifestyle, culture, economy..What else did it?
Japan had isolated itself , not only from the west, but from all other nations. It was during regime of the Emperor Maiji ( 1868~1912 ), that Japan opened up. This period is called as Enlightened Rule. Like many old civilizations such as Chinese, Indian etc. Japan had their own distinct culture. Their economy developed because they worked very hard, put the work ahead of family and were never individualist.
After world war II more and more Japanese came under the influence of American culture. Today's Japan is very much westernized.
To Erich: It is not true to say that Asians think that westerners are barbaric. Especially Indians are always grateful to English language that this language introduced them to the ideas such as equality, democracy, freedom etc.How did the japanese isolation from the west change its society, lifestyle, culture, economy..What else did it?
Your question makes no sense.
Japan wasn't ';isolated'; from the West - it just developed its own culture and did so in an area where its culture shows similarities to other Asian culture.
The Asians were a going concern, culturally speaking, when Europeans were still living in caves.
Japanese still think of us as ';gan-jin'; - barbarians, a view shared by most Chinese and, to some extent, by most Asians.
Think about it, for tens of thousands of years, while all over Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle east were all able to reach out to each other and share their technology and cultures, Japan sat in the Pacific, cut off from other civilizations due to its Island status.
This allowed it's people develop a highly unique culture, without being built upon bits and pieces of other cultures philosophy and success's.
I don't know what eric H is talking about saying europeans living in caves when asian Society was going. The etruscans in northern italy began around 1500 BCE and had written language and invented the Arch. And speaking of Japan itself they didn't have a written record until around the 13th century when the chinese came and taught them how to build read and write.
And the fact that Japan was an Island and completely isolated is Absolutely ludicrous. There was trading by ships in japan for thousands of years. That's how they got written language, and their architecture reminiscent of tang dynasty china.
Oh whoa paris its amazing how Buddhism one of Japans major religions was developed to be exactly the same as the indian religion founded 6th century B.C india, in japan. Whoa its amazing how a Island can never be reached or influenced.
Just from that logic you should know Paris is stupid.

Is poverty AND social isolation a punishment from God, especially if the person is out-going and educated?
Out-going but people have no interest in forming relationships w/ him/her?Is poverty AND social isolation a punishment from God, especially if the person is out-going and educated?
Do you have a relationship with God? Make sure you pray to the Lord daily and don't be afraid to ask for those things that are a priority. Ask for forgiveness. Use your education and abilities to be the best you can be. People tend to admire those that show confidence when they perform any activity. Have this confidence in yourself. Besides God, you come first whether it is taking care of your health through proper diet and exercise, or working to achieve financial stability. God helps those that help themselves. Be patient, it can take time to overcome certain situations. Good luck to you!Is poverty AND social isolation a punishment from God, especially if the person is out-going and educated?
Yes. God is so petty that he punishes you with poverty and isolation because you suck. He's not worried about Israel, Palestine, Darfur, or Rwanda (sp?) or starving children in Ethiopia or the displaced monks in Tibet or any of these other horrors going on around the world.
What matters is that you suck and he punishes you for it.
I don't think so, but the bible does say that laziness is frowned upon. God loves us to be hard workers. As for social isolation, it's your responsibility to seek treatment.

Note: Erikson did not put ages on his stages. They are approximate and not a given. He would say it is over when one pursues the crisis of the next stage. You do not have to resolve a stage to go on to the next, although it will make resolution of the next stage more difficult if not impossible to achieve. Most do not achieve successful resolution of all stages. (psychology professor)cosmetics makeup

God says that a man should not be alone, therefore why am I suffering from isolation?
People seem to be avoiding me, and more so the girls, why?God says that a man should not be alone, therefore why am I suffering from isolation?
Bad hair day .God says that a man should not be alone, therefore why am I suffering from isolation?
If that's your picture, you are a goodlooking guy--not that that really matters but it helps.
I used to think that I didn't have friends or dates because people didn't like me. I found out that it was because I didn't really like people! What I mean is that you need to actively befriend people--both men and women. Reach out to others instead of waiting for them to reach out to you. Be a true friend to girls--ask them questions about themselves, compliment them (not flatter) and be truly interested in what they're doing, what they're interested in, what their hobbies are, etc.
Too many guys try to 'chat up' a girl by talking about themselves. Guys think they have to 'advertise' themselves to a girl by boasting, posturing, touting their many accomplishments, etc. But girls find that boring! Every person wants someone else to be interested in them--their opinions, their likes and dislikes, their past, their travels.
Read The Fine ARt of Small Talk, byDebra Fine. It will open the world of friends and girlfriends to you.
';If a man would have friends he must show himself friendly';
';People don't really care how much you know until they know how much you really care!';
Why do you think people may be avoiding you? Are you a negative person? Do you complain about things a lot? Think about this, it could be unintentional.
Woman like a man who is confident. He doesn't need to be outspoken to be confident, just sure about himself.
So, relax and continue with your everyday activities and soon you will find people who gravitate toward you. It's when you are not looking for a relationship, you find one.
God only gives you what you CAN handle.
Nor are you alone, He is always beside you.
I know this sounds cliche', but i want you to do something;
Sit down in a quiet place, or even whilst you're driving.
Talk aloud, Thank God for all you DO have.
This is the thing that brought ME closer to Our Heavenly Father.
That's difficult to answer without being around you. Maybe you look angry all the time or give off creepy vibes, who knows. It sounds cheesy but you should try to think more positive. It really does work.

A good hook for my essay about isolation?
I am writing an essay on AS I LAY DYING, by william faulkner.
The essay is about isolation, but i can't seem to get a good hook. THis is what i would like to say, but i don't know how to put it into a cohesive sentence...
Isolation is defined as being alone and away from society, with no social contact.
But isolation can also be in a person surrounded by many other people, but is emotionally isolated and cannot connect to other people.
PLEASE HELPPPP
thank you.A good hook for my essay about isolation?
Isolation can be both physical and /or emotional. Physical isolation is defined as being alone and away from society, with no social contact, but isolation can be emotional as well, such as happens when a person just cannot seem to connect or bond with other people.A good hook for my essay about isolation?

How do I cure this feeling of 'isolation'?
It is everywhere. People are close to me, and yet they feel so very far away. I have observed that I cannot approach people. I cannot carry out normal conversation. I do not take pleasure in things that much of my age group would take delight in. I find that I associate better with adults than my peers. This is perturbing and rather frustrating. What is the remedy? Seroquel helps not.How do I cure this feeling of 'isolation'?
I have the same trouble actually. And I am trying some stuff to help that.
So what I've been trying out is calling people and just saying hi and starting a conversation. For some reason if makes me feel as if I accomplished a major society goal! I have also practiced just starting conversation with more and more random people. So if you're in a mall or a grocery store, I suggest that you try to do so also.
You'll get over isolation (which I see that it might be related to fear of talking normally with normal people with different interest). I do know it's a tough challenge but it does work and you will gain confidence in yourself. Heck, you'll discover things about that you haven't noticed once in your very own lifetime as of yet! I know I sure did!
You can just start out small. Go to a store that has your interests (you're into anime right?). So go to a place that sells anime or manga and start up a conversation with someone in that same section! It'll be a perfect chance to talk to someone and the best part is they might have the same interest in anime as you do.
as you do this more often (even if it is just in an anime or manga section) you will get practice and find a connection with people that you have never experienced before. This might even get you comfortable with being around kids your age (believe me, I tend to find adults/elders much more interesting too).
Well, I hope that is some type of helpful advice.
If you do try this out, I am very proud of you for trying and stepping out of your comfort zone!

P.S.: Unnecessary pills are the capsules of bodily destruction! Try activities such as the one I suggested first and don't give pills a single thought! How do I cure this feeling of 'isolation'?
why does everyone think pills are the answer for everything...you have a head ache...you take asprin...you have infection...you take anti biotics...you have depression...get a hobby...everyone just wants the easy way out and doesnt want to take responsibility...sad...
Probably because you need to improve on your attitude.
Probably not.
Maybe the people with the same interest might understand you..

How might isolation affect the way a country develops economically?
Isolationism generally involves tariffs. Tariffs are taxes on products produced in other countries, and sold in the U.S. The intention is to protect American products from foreign competition.
If we had tariffs, cars made in Japan and Germany would have to pay taxes to the U.S. to sell them here. The tariffs would be added on to the price of their cars. Since American cars would not have tariffs when sold here, we could sell them cheaper than foreign car makers could.
The problem would start, when those other countries retaliated. Either by placing tariffs on American made products sold in their country, or by embargo. Which would prohibit American products from being sold there at all.
In addition, by reducing the number of products foreign nations sell here, to protect American businesses, it would cause those other countries not to have enough money to buy American products.
Tariffs placed on European nations in the 20's-30's, left Europe with little money to buy American agriculture products, which made up a large portion of the American GNP (Gross National Product=total dollar value of all goods and services produced in a nation) which ultimately lead to a deflationary spiral and caused the great depression
When America crops couldn't be old overseas, it lead to an over supply, which lead to a price reduction. Lower prices seem like a good deal. But when deflation sets in, people stop buying and investing, waiting for prices to drop even farther. Spending, stops, investment ceases, people begin hoarding cash, credit dries up, banks fail, and an economic depression results.
American isolationism also lead to an American embargo of Japan. America made it illegal for American companies to sell anything to Japan. Japan has little natural resources, depended at the time on rubber, oil, steel, and other commodities to produce goods to sell.
That ultimately lead to a trade war between America and Japan, and triggered Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. How might isolation affect the way a country develops economically?

Is there a passage in the Bible that will help me with my isolation and loneliness?
I'm in need of some help. I'm not messing around. About ready to end it all...please help me. thanks. Is there a passage in the Bible that will help me with my isolation and loneliness?
Proverbs 18:1 ';One isolating himself will seek his own selfish longing; against all practical wisdom he will break forth.'; Get out of the house, take a walk, be around people.
Heartfelt prayer will also help keep your mental balance, so that your affliction does not become completely overwhelming. The apostle Paul wrote: ';In everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God.'; Do you know how sincere prayer brings comfort? ';The peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.'; (Philippians 4:6, 7) The peace of God can stabilize us when we are burdened with distressing emotions. It will 'guard our hearts and our mental powers,' thus helping us to avoid reacting rashly and unwisely, which could add to our affliction. Is there a passage in the Bible that will help me with my isolation and loneliness?
This isn't exactly a Bible passage, but one thing that has helped me immensely, even in my doubting times, is the adage ';Let go and let God';. It's super cheesy, but you have to remember that God is in control. Relax your soul and mind and let God handle it when it seems too much for you. You will not always be lonely and isolated - given some time you'll look back and be amazed that you ever felt like giving up.
Have a cup of warm tea, play some beautiful (not depressing!) music, watch a funny movie, try finding some like minded people and chat online if there's no one you feel comfortable talking to in person at the moment. I'm sending you many prayers and light!! You'll feel better, no - AMAZING soon. Really. :)
Loneliness is worst then poverty. I moved from Philly to this God forsaken place I am at now with not a single person as a friend. Tried to make friends but no one seems to like me so I just read the bible and pray when I am not working. my husband fell me crying uncontrolled one time when he came home from work it is so hard with no one here most of the day.I only work PT no work here for me. Well good luck I will say a prayer for you.

Ps. 37:10, 11: “Just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; and you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”
Ps. 27:10: “In case my own father and my own mother did leave me, even Jehovah himself would take me up.”
Isa. 25:8, 9: “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. . . . And in that day one will certainly say: ‘Look! This is our God. We have hoped in him, and he will save us. This is Jehovah. We have hoped in him. Let us be joyful and rejoice in the salvation by him.’”
The day of accounting with God will come. At that time he will punish the wicked, destroying them forever. Proverbs 2:21, 22 says: “The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it.” Then the upright ones, many of whom have suffered adversity, will enjoy perfect health and a generous share of earth’s abundant produce

Isaiah 41:10-13. 10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness.’
11 “Look! All those getting heated up against you will become ashamed and be humiliated. The men in a quarrel with you will become as nothing and will perish. 12 You will search for them, but you will not find them, those men in a struggle with you. They will become as something nonexistent and as nothing, those men at war with you. 13 For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the One saying to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you.’
Psa 68:6 ';God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.';
there is something in the bible that says weep with those who weep so you should find a solid church to go to and let a couple people know for prayer and company.
I can only recommend Joyce Meyer Ministries which helped me the same. I was in loneliness and isolation for 26 years of my life. Now, I'm free.
I learned in the bible through Joyce Meyer explanation that this is a form of satan's deception. This is not true. When we became focus in our own selves: we experience self pity, fear, rejection, sadness, anger, unforgiveness. etc weourselvesalize it but oueselves is the center and not God, this is a form of idolatry. The more we focus to ourselves the more we are lonely.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.';
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ';Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.';
Isaiah 41:13
For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
God does not make junk. He loves you very very much. Please call out to him, he is listening. I hope you begin to feel better very soon.
I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5
God loves you more than you know. dont let the devil decieve you; his only goal is to destroy your soul. Jesus says ' I have come that you may have life and life more abundantly.' trust God. let Him take away your pain. put your life in His hands and prove that His suffering and sacrifice for your redemption was not in vain. He left power and glory and drank the cup of suffering because of His love for you.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your care on him; for he cares for you.
Loneliness can be a very painful feeling . I myself battle feelings of loneliness and depression. It is very easy to isolate yourself from the world but really that is not the best thing for us because it only deepens loneliness. Take courage that you are not ALONE there are people who deeply care for you and know to some extent how you feel but the true God , the one who created you, the one who well knows the formation of you (Psalm 103:14) He knows exactly how you feel. 1 John 3:19,20 says that God is greater than our hearts and knows all things.
So he know's your troubles and groanings of your heart. He cares for you very deeply and he is the to provide help. Really , He is the best friend we could ever have. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 calls him the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation.
There are examples in the Bible of God's servants who also like you and I have battled with these feelings of being lonely . To them, Jehovah was a source of support and comfort. Take, for example, Jeremiah, who was called to be a prophet when a young man.
Among the 40 writers of the Scriptures, Jeremiah was perhaps the one who expressed the MOST about his personal feelings. He felt timid and inadequate when he received his first assignment from God. (Jeremiah 1:6) To carry it out, he had to rely fully on Jehovah. The Bible says Jehovah was with him “like a terrible mighty one.” (Jeremiah 1:18, 19; 20:11)
Also, there is another example in the Bible. Elijah. Some 300 years before Jeremiah, when Queen Jezebel heard of the death of her Baal prophets, she vowed to have Elijah put to death. Elijah fled some 285 miles to Horeb. There he entered a cave to spend the night, and Jehovah God put this question to him: “What is your business here, Elijah?” Elijah explained that he felt he was the sole worshiper of Jehovah in all Israel, the only prophet left who was zealous for God’s service. Jehovah assured him that he was not alone. Jehovah was with him, and 7,000 of Elijah’s fellow Israelites were also with him, although unknown to him. Jehovah comforted and soothed Elijah and built up his faith. He touched Elijah’s heart, encouraging the prophet not to give up in his assignment. (1 Kings 19:4, 9-12, 15-18)
The example of Elijah is so encouraging because it shows that when feeling lonely and worthless, we should pray to Jehovah the true God, for strength. From these two examples we can see how Jehovah willingly gave support and comfort to his servants.
Psalm 9:9 says Jehovah will become a secure height for anyone crushed, a secure height in times of distress.
Psalm 46:1 says Jehovah is source for refuge and strength. A help that is readily to be found during distresses.
Isaiah 41:10 Jehovahs says '; Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness.';
Please, draw close to Jehovah in prayer. “Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you.” (Psalm 55:22)
As long as there is life, there is hope. You are not alone. Jesus cares for you. If you ask He will comfort you. Read John 3:16;';For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.'; He knows what you need to lift you up. Please talk to Jesus. He will listen and He will help. I am praying for you.
Nehemiah 8:10 says '; Nehemiah said go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'; (NIV)
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Psa 68:6 ';God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.';
there is something in the bible that says weep with those who weep so you should find a solid church to go to and let a couple people know for prayer and company.

Isaiah 41:10 Jehovahs says '; Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness.';
