What is an imagry/symbol that represents isolation/alienation?

I have to draw a cover of a man stuck in his childhood so he's isolated from world.





I was going to draw two elevators one higher than the other to show that he is stuck in one spot and the other one where people are actually moving up, growing up. But elevators are really hard to draw can anyone think of something similar to elevators?What is an imagry/symbol that represents isolation/alienation?
You could draw a small house with no door or window or you could draw a prison cell.
