What illness could you be put in isolation ward for?

My nepher had a cyst on his neck removed last week. Not the first one so he has been thru this before, minor thing. This one still hurt so he went to the dr. He was put in the hospital, has has a 103 degree fever and diarrhea. They moved him from a reg shared room to isolation but are not telling anyone what is going on. Any ideas? What illness could you be put in isolation ward for?
It's likely just a precautionary measure, it's difficult to maintain infection control when someone is that ill, so for his protection and the protection of others, he has been isolated.

With the history of the cyst on his neck and now with a fever and loose stools, he may have MRSA, he may not. I am sure they have taken cultures of everything and are waiting for the results. They aren't witholding information, they don't have any information to give you yet. What illness could you be put in isolation ward for?
MERSA, etc. Since roommates share the same bathroom and diarrhea can infect others, that's mainly why they isolated them. Besides, fever can spread as well.
It could be the flu, or mrsa.
possibly hepititus. same happened with a friend of mine.
Tuberculosis, small pox or anything that could be transmitted to other patients. He'll be okay after the quarantine and the doctors get the fever down.

I'll say a prayer for him and your family that he gets well soon:)
It could be because he has something very contagious and serious, like TB. OR it could be that he has something causing a weakened immune system and is in isolation for his own protection such as cancer. There are ALOT of different things that could cause this, some more worrisome than others. You'll have to get someone, like his parents, to get answers from the doctors.
