I need to fit an isolation switch to my shower?

I have broken my shower isolating pull cord switch. I need a new one which I will get from Wicks, but can anyone tell me how to wire it! Is it simple and can it be done easily by myself? It would be brilliant if anyone could supply a simple wiring diagram! Many thanks.I need to fit an isolation switch to my shower?
It is simple and if you don't know how to do it, then I suggest you dont try it yourself and get an electrician out. If you want to be risky, then its just a case of replacing the switch, fitting the input supply from the fusebox to the L %26amp; N on the in side of the switch and then the output of the switch L %26amp; N to the shower. Nothing complicated here. The earthing is the big issue and must be through an adequately sized conductor (the rules on these have changed recently). Also, there may be a supplementary conductor bonded to the earth at this point. To sum up, its like changing a socket on the wall. No difference really. Just make sure you isolate the supply at the mains before you commence any work - if in doubt DONT DO IT!I need to fit an isolation switch to my shower?
just open it up yourself with electric off..look where the connections are made make a plan yourself..then rewire the same way...simple...
you can follow the wiring from the old switch, however you must turn off the elec supply to that switch. if u buy from wicks/ b%26amp;Q etc there should be a wiring diagram enclosed. Given that this is a potentially dangerous area, ie water /elec and your ont sure, get a qualified person in, its not worth the loss of a family member or yourself , no life is worth as little as 拢40-50 . best of luck.
It's super simple, you should get a wiring diagram with the new one but if not, just take out the wires from the old switch %26amp; fit them into the same holes in the new one. I fitted one from scratch %26amp; it was a piece of cake, stop worrying.
Its very easy, the new one will come with a diagram.

As you remove the old switch, take a look at the wires and note the connections down on paper.

Changing a switch like this is exempt from part p regs so you can do it without a sparky.

Earth is very improtant.

Having said all this i have been called out to fix some nightmare attempts at changing lightswitches.....I've lost count with the amount I've earned fixing peoples DIY electrical jobs. So when you say ';can it be done easily by myself'; you'd be suprised at how many people cannot strip wires and tighten screws, Some think they are making a swiss watch and others think they are mooring the QE2. Only you can judge your DIY ability.

Anyway, proceed slowly, and if you're not sure just backtrack and call a friend - there is bound to be one thats confident at this sort of stuff.
