Is isolation considered a theme in the Scarlet Letter?

I have to write an essay for my AP English Language class about a theme in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I'm planning on writing it about how isolation affected Hester and how the letter A worn by her is a symbol of her isolation. I am just wondering if this is considered a good theme from this novel. Is isolation considered a theme in the Scarlet Letter?
absolutely...

The A was her visible cross to bear and it made her an outcast in the society. It was physical representation of their dislike and the oppression of the group, which forces her to withdrawal from them as they do the same to her.Is isolation considered a theme in the Scarlet Letter?
Yes, sounds good to me. Her isolation prompted her to make the choices that in essence, make the novel. Her isolation was frightening, yet it gave her independence and free thought (which were very dangerous in the society in which she lived.)
Religious, social and spiritual isolation are all central to the novel.
Most definately, it is the same thing as Society Vs. Individual which is a major theme of the novel. The society tries to keep Hester out and Hester is smart enough to keep the society out. Definately mention how Hester lives outside the city and that the A she wears marks her so that everyone knows to isolate her. What other ways are people marked in isolation? Is everybody who is isolated actually isolated by the community or are some characters isolating themselves?
Absolutely, isolation is a major theme. You may also want to point out that the puritans were also isolated, created a naive small society.
